Logitech Pro 9000 Excellent Webcam, 13 Aug 2008
I ordered it on saturday, arrived Tuesday, excellent service, many thanks to Amazon.
Unrapped,and installation took 5 mins.Tested with a friend on Skype.Lovely result,no problems.
By the way i have a Windows XP on my computer.
Would recommend to anybody.
THE BEST Webcam I have ever had, 08 Jul 2008
For me the big debate is over, I finally know what Webcam to buy & recommend. This is THE webcam to get.
I spent months browsing reviews, articles & opinions wondering which Webcam to get, all products, including this one, seem to get mixed reviews.
I was still uncertain but needed to buy and went for the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000. The comments about image quality from the Carl Zeiss Lens swayed it for me.
I don't regret it at all.
I did initially have a minor Vista64 Install issue where after installing the included software I could no longer see my networked PCs in windows explorer. I could still access them but not see them. One day, after a normal scheduled Microsoft Windows update, the problem just went away and I've been fine ever since.
I love the quality of this camera, both in terms of designs/build and particularly the fabulous picture and sound.
In Skype it's performance capabilities are automatically recognised and Higher definition video is used by default. This benefits the person watching your video of course, you would need them to have one for you to benefit.
The audio is also excellent and doesn't appear to suffer from the loopthrough or feedback issues I've read about on some Webcams with internal Mics.
The included software is a little gimmicky, but worthwhile. It's quite fun for the kids to mysteriously make clothes and accessories appear on them real time during chats. The Face recognition driven auto-panning feature that the software allows works very nicely.
I'm getting a Mac with a built in Webcam, but I understand that there are OSX drivers for this camera so I intend to keep using the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000. I will also be buying some more for my family so I can benefit from their improved picture quality.
One last thing I'll mention is that it is also very practical, it sits equally well on top of my 22" TFT as it does on a 17" CRT, or on the Desk. I also like the fact that you get a red glowing ring around the Logitech logo to inform you that the webcam is active.
I love this camera!
Top Marks Logitech.
Excellent, 07 Jul 2008
Not much to say about this. Performs very well in most conditions including very low light. One of few cams to do Skype in "HD" where the picture quality blows other services away (quadruple resolution and double frame rates).
be very wary!, 07 Jul 2008
This item is supposed to be wonderful!
I have purchsed it and it had the wrong version installation disc in the box 11.7 and not 11.5 as should be re Logitech themselves.
Upon installing this disc it has caused the computer to crash and now will not come back on as it has lost all drivers etc.
Be carefull what you get!
Great, great and great!, 20 Jun 2008
If you were like me, your logitech software (features) was all over the place. Well this camera is truly my no 1 choice for a very convenient webcam. Firstly, when you buy the software you should always, must, must, must and must use the software that comes with it. Make sure there's no spyware, virus scanning or anything of that nature. Also make sure that no programs that is blocking full func. of the program. I've seen reviews which do complain about how it doesn't work, software wise. The software is the most important way of making the webcam give you the fullest quality.
Also what people don't make clear is that when you have the camera on your screen. People think you cannot tilt it up and down. This is not that case, it can tilt all the way to the ceiling and to the floor.
Moving on, simply. It's a great webcam, full of amazing, mind blowing features. Such as auto focus (manual), universal clip, great mic, superb video quality. Sup-parsed my Sphere Orbit MP camera by far!
You can find more information at other sites, but please remember that you've got to make sure you have all the latest drivers, specs (for computer) etc. Then it should work, vista works as good as xp does.
Overall, 5 stars!

Vx1000 is alright for a time, 26 Aug 2008
I ordered my vx1000 from somewhere else but when you get the webcam pluged in and installed the drivers and such which is easy to setup and when you first use it the picture is fine however i have had mine for like a couple of months and from time to time the image quality would be a bit blurry and that i see the same result from my friend who has same webcam that i recommended but don't know when that happened anyways let this picture quality speak for it's self.
http://b.imagehost.org/0366/webcam_example.jpg
If i only knew about this i would not buy it but if you do you can expect good quality but for some reason the cam you could get could be like this.
A very good WebCam, 16 Jul 2008
This camera is very good value and offers excellent quality. If you are looking for a camera that is not too expensive but is not terrible then look no further. It has a good amount of adjustablility and will mount of a flat surface, an LCD moniter or laptop screen.
Downsides, the adjustment often can be fiddly but once you have got the right spot, you're good to go. The top button is also a bit of a pain. I found myself trying to push the cam up or down and hitting the "Quick IM" button instead.
I personally used mine for UStream and found it perfect. Quick install too.
DON'T BUY FOR MAC. Just wanted to throw that out there for those that may think it will work on there too, it won't.
Otherwise, you will not regret buying this webcam. As good as cams twice the price.
Didn't work for me ??, 24 Jun 2008
Bought from Amazon for £14 or so after reading reviews. I have Windows XP Home Edition. Loaded software OK but on plugging in the Found Hardware Wizard said Error file not located. However, it did work the first time but on restarting PC it didn't, and wasn't detected thereafter. I tried everything including menu help, hardware help, uninstall reinstalled, do this do that umpteen times, emailed Microsoft, no reply, forum here, no response so in the end just gave up. Hardware help said it may be to do with the fact I previously had a Logitech webcam and to download the latest software then try it. Still nothing. Giving it One Star as although I'm sure it's a perfectly good gadget it the right hands, all it gave me was several hours of wasted time and frustration.
Great Value, Great Camera., 24 May 2008
It's small, stylish and sturdy, it installs right away and it integrates seemlessy with Windows Live Messenger. Great Value for money, I don't know why anyone would spend extra on a VX3000/6000.
Amazing camera!, 21 Apr 2008
I bought this camera to replace my lousy Labtec one. Seeing the words 'Microsoft' in the title of this product i immediately expected good qulity, and this was totally fulfilled. It is very good quality and works well with video conferencing (MSN etc) and the way it fits onto the monitor (LCD or CRT) is so useful and avoids the unnecessary hassle of blu-tacing it to the monitor. However, the one pointless feature of the webcam is the 'Video Call' button. This seems to solve a prolbme invented solely by Microsoft that never normally occurs; when this button is pressed MSN is opened and your are asked to chose who to video call. Seems rather pointless to me.

Good, easy to use camera. Working great with my Ubuntu Linux 8.04. Decent resolution and clear picture. Working well with Linux and Skype combination.
A load of S#!T...Unbelievable from Microsoft., 18 Apr 2008
Looks ok doesn't it? Not bad looking, and judging by the spec with the high resolution and video quality - for a webcam in this price range...a bargain.
How wrong...how very wrong. Basically, the picture quality is just about bearable and mine came with a pixel shaded red as it goes but there you go...
And then we move onto the microphone. Oh deary dear. It is constantly buzzing and fuzzing and about any other adjective ending with the letters 'zzing'you can think of.
You were thinking of buying this to video call on MSN or Skype? There are much better quality ones out there. You were buying this to call in general on MSN or Skype or video call WITH the microphone-then PLEASE, PLEASE trust me on this one. It is a load of bull and i would DEFINATELY rethink what you are getting yourself into. It is alot of hassle for a piece of plastic and i would certainly not expect this from microsoft. Search it on google, look at people on the forums etc. they all have the same problems with the fuzzy mic and low picture quality. But my main concern is, yes, the mic. No matter how many settings you adjust it does not fix the fuzzing and just to illustrate what im saying, when i was talking to my friend on msn the fuzzing was so loud he could not hear a worked i was saying unless i was about two inches away from it and shouting...
According to some threads on the forums i have to take the bloody thing apart to fix it-screw that! I bought it to use not to fix...
So anyway other reviewers who gave this product four and five stars you must have got very lucky because there are hundreds of other reviewers on the web which would say differently-including me.
I have never reviewed a product on Amazon before, you could probably guess that i have been delighted with all of them. That is correct. And that is why i have given this product 1 star. Because i am appalled. You think I'm over-reacting?
Go on, buy it. See for yourself.
LifeCam..., 16 Jan 2008
I bought this webcam to replace an extrememly cheap webcam bought off of amazon. The webcam arrived with a cd, and instruction manual. Aesthetically, it is very pleasing; it will sit on your LCD screen, desk, or laptop screen. For those who want a webcam for chatting online and are not too concerned with sound/video syncing this is perfect for you. However if you are interesting in creating a vlog, etc- i would NOT reccommend this webcam. The microphone is very picky about whether it wants to work so perhaps it would be better to use an external mic or your CPU microphone. The picture quality is fantastic, however! up to 1.4 megapixels for static photos.
Works fine on XP, no problems! But not on my Vista machine!, 04 Dec 2007
This is my second webcam, my old one being a very poor make that I bought cheap, and as expected had very low picture quality, and the mic was terrible. I use Windows Live Messenger, so when I saw that this webcam was optimised for Windows Live, I knew it was the right buy for me. Setup was a doddle, just inserted the disc, waited five minutes, then rebooted the comp and it has finished, upon reboot it brings up and Audio and Video settings menu, in which you can select which speakers/webcam/microphone you wish to use. I use Windows XP by the way, so I am not sure how this would operate on Vista. The Software is LifeCam 1.4, and includes some software in which you can take a stil picture, capture video with audio, or just capture audio, this is very simple and easy to use. Also installed is LifeCam dashboard, which only works with Windows Live, what this does is adds effects to your image, like drums/rabbit/guitar etc, so you can really have some fun with this webcam, quite a few are included as well. At the top of the webcam there is a Windows Live Call button, which is also some software that is installed, with just a flick of this button it brings up all your contacts in which you can have a Video call with, this only works with Windows Live! The webcam feels sturdy, and can be used on a flat surface, and the base turns into a clip so you can easily hang it from a flat monitor. I think this webcam is fantastic, if you have Windows Live, if you don't have Win.Live then many of the features that make this webcam stand out from the rest you will not be able to use!
UPDATE: At the time of writing this review initallily, it was based on the experience of using it on my Windows XP machine, I have since tried it on my Vista Laptop and found that it does not work, so I shall have to send it back for a refund!
First cam , 19 Feb 2007
This is my first cam so i would not know any different but the set up was very easy and smooth and the quality of the product is very good.
Reports from my family are "can you get me one and send it to us!"
I tried to take a still picture of myself and was not happy with the quality but i may not have the settings correct.
On the other end, they can have me on a full screen and so im told it is crystal clear and the sound is very good.

Good, easy to use camera, 24 Jun 2008
High quality, compact size and fascinating features in a elegantly designed webcam., 03 Jul 2008
As I always trusted logitech products beacuse of their thorough research and testing phases. This product has exceeded my expectations. I think it is the best notebook webcam out in the market.Great product in relation to monetary value paid for it. Below is some of my well thought and accumulated perceptions of the product that may help you make good buying decision:
Image and video quality: Best in the market especially if you are on the move.
Installation: 5 minutes with simple steps.
Size: Very small size designed specifically to move with special sponge carrying bag.
Features: High quality, ulra automatic adjustment feature would make it an ample webcam in any lighting environment (sunny, dark, cloudy, in room etc.).
Good luck and I take an opportunity to recommend this webcam to individuals who value innovation, quality and value based satisfaction.
Very Nice...., 20 Jun 2008
I got this to use with my Dell Inspiron 1525 notebook and it works very well.
However the first thing I noticed that it DOES NOT come with the carry case as shown. Just the stand.
The installation: Very easy. Maybe because I already had some Logitech camera software on this notebook. I just plugged in the camera, opened the software, it gave me a link to the support site where I chose what model of camera I had and what operating system was on my notebook, download, install, done! Works very well with Vista.
Picture quality: Very good, very clear. The lens has a very wide angle, almost like wall-eye. So even if you have it clipped to the top of your notebook you don't look like you are that close to the camera.
Sound quality: I have been told by people who I call that sound is really great! Miles better than my last cam, a million miles better than my notebook mic. So sound gets five stars.
Features: Very funny, very amusing. The masks are really cool, so are the filters. You'll have fun with them.
Bad points: As mentioned above there is no case! The stand it comes with is flimsy and don't have enough weight at the bottom so its easy to topple over.
So to sum up: Looks great, has great picture, amazing sound, super features. A good buy.
5 STARS * * * * *
Overpriced and useles, 16 Apr 2008
This web cam is over-priced. Similarly specified cams are available at less than a third of its price and the Amazon price is one-third higher than other online stores.
The focussing ring on the cam is fiddly and useless. After only a month the one on my cam stopped functioning altogether.
I have replaced this disaster with a more robust, cheaper cam bought locally.
BEWARE!, 21 Jan 2008
Great camera but what a performance to set it up! Using CD provided cocked up my whole system with the result I was without the internet for 24 hrs and had no end of trouble with error messages popping up all over the place. Had to seek professional help to sort it out. Overall cost to put it right was £146 + vat!!! Apparently I should have ignored the CD and downloaded the drivers from the internet. Other than this the camera really is very good, clear in most lighting conditions and the special effects are amusing.
Impressive quality and perfect size, 29 Oct 2007
When I got the package, the first thing that made me happy was the size of this camera. I travel a fair amount on business and have a two-year-old daughter, so I always take a camera with me to talk to her at night and allow her to see me. The size of this camera is as good as it gets for traveling, and it also includes a great padded pouch for transporting it.
The other aspect of this product that I loved is its image quality, especially in regards to how well it adjusts the image based on the light and also how when you are on a Skype call and you move, the person on the other side can clearly see the movement instead of seeing a blur on their screen. I compared its quality side by side with my previous camera, which roughly costs half of what this one goes for, and the difference in quality was huge; making this a great purchase.
In terms of the software installation, the instructions were simple and clear and the process does not take too much time. The only thing that can be improved is that when you get to the point in which you are prompted to plug in the camera, while the computer is checking the configuration, the installation screen keeps prompting for the camera to be plugged in. People used to installing plug-and-play hardware will quickly realize what is going on, but some users may be confused by this and start unplugging and plugging the device.
In terms of using the camera with Skype, the integration is seamless. The only setting I had to adjust manually was the microphone, but this is straightforward, I just needed to go to the Options / Sound Devices and pick the appropriate audio in. A final thing to consider is that for the camera to work with Skype you have to close the Logitech Quickcam software, since the image cannot be used by both programs at the same time.
Overall I am highly satisfied with this product, and besides the minor problems mentioned above, the only other thing I did not care for was the stand. This camera works great if you are going to clip it to your laptop screen, but the stand provided for use with desktops is wobbly and does not help with image quality at all.

A good buy.

LifeCam - easy peasy, 08 Feb 2008
In short it does what it says it does. I have had other cameras but this one is as close to plug and play that i have seen.
The microphone on it is superb, and can track a voice some 6 to 7ft away effectively.
for me its an essential put-in-the-bag for my business trips
Good Product and good value for money, 28 Jan 2008
I have bought this webcam as an upgrade to my old one. After a thorough search I decided on the Microsoft Lifecam VX-6000. I did search for the best price and Amazon price was about 75% cheaper. I received it within 6 days.
Installation was straight forward. And the picture quality was good. I want to say that I found the microphone very good indeed despite some of the reviewers had a problem with it. It did fit nicely over my LCD screen, and my voice was very clear without any interference.
I tried with Windows Life Messenger as well as Yahoo! Messenger and it did work very well.
Highly recommended.
Does what it says on the tin, 27 Jan 2008
Got one of these to upgrade a bog standard Logitech one that came with the PC. Loaded the software and plugged in the camera, worked perfectly right from the off. easy to install and use good quality images... highly reccommended
Not Bad, 25 Jan 2008
The Microsoft came at this price is fantastic but after 1 day the video wasnt soo clear has yesturday there alot of buzz when your trying to record video and sometimes the webcam has a mind of it own . has the face track is all over the place and sometimes there other tech problems with this . If u just want a webcam just to do video calling on msn or skype or even yahoo its good but not great
You'd never guess it was a Microsoft gizmo, 27 Dec 2007
While installation and support are great due to the Microsoft branding, if you were to see the picture quality and hear the sound, you might assume you'd bought a bargain webcam. I was attracted by the price but now realise that I should not have strayed from Logitech.

Good, easy to use camera, 24 Jun 2008
