A Classic (from a woman's perspective), 19 Nov 2008
I enjoy this TV - it's gorgeous, slinky black and doesn't look like the 2001 Space Odyssey monolith has made a new home in my living room.
It's easy to put together (stand-to-TV) and I had no problems at all with tuning. My only additional cost was a 30 pound HDMI cable to use with the DVD player.
I have had this Sony for just over a month now and I LOVE IT!
TV + cable and all together under 400 pound - this was a great buy.
Realy Gooood!!!, 19 Nov 2008
Having previously owned an LG 19 inch tv for two years, I was excited about the prospect of having my very own large flat-screen. I ordered on Friday night and it was duly delivered yesterday evening. Setup took less than 10 minutes and after a bit of tweaking using setting from AV forums, all i can say is that the picture quality is amazing even on standard defination and hgh defination is just beyond words, far better than on my previous tv even though you cannot really compare. there is loads of inputs to connect your devices, games, etc and the TV looks nice aswell which is definately a plus. my only slight qualm with this is that dark scenes sometimes are a bit too dark but that can be probably solved with a bit of more tweaking. In all a very good bargain for less than 330 pounds, Money well spent in my opinion, can't wait to watch some blue-ray movies. Oh and also in addition to this, i have just setup my ps3 to stream content straight from my pc so i can watch on my tv and prison break, movies, and anime look absolutely fabulous, it may seem like i'm exxagerating but it is quite good.
Great tv but don't go for the promotional wall bracket, 14 Nov 2008
My partner recently purchased the Sony KDL 32v4000 tv with the Techlink TWM2 wall bracket as a promotion.
Great tv but completely incompatible with the supplied wall bracket. We have complained many times but still Amazon are advertising this bracket with the tv.
"WHY !!!!!!!!" DO NOT BUY THE TECLINK TWM2 BRACKET FOR THIS TV.
Great Value TV, 13 Nov 2008
Ordered this TV yesterday on behalf of a family friend and it arrived at 8.30am this morning! I had the set up and running within 20 minutes. It tunes itself and connecting the ordinary Sky Box via scart cable was simple. Picture quality is very good and as my friend doesn't want Sky+ HD this was the perfect choice for her needs. I have only given this 4 stars as I have been spoilt with my W Series version of this TV along with Sky+HD which is worth getting if you like watching a lot of movies, wildlife documentaries & sport. If not, then this TV is a very good choice for normal digital TV viewing. Excellent service again from Amazon. (5 Stars!)
Good but not Great, 13 Nov 2008
I've bought this tv recently from amazon for £365. It's good but not better than my 32" Digimate bought from elsewhere, which costs me £235, so I think that Sony is a bit over-rated. Don't buy this Sony model if you watch a lot of sport because you get fuzzy pictures with fast moving objects (my cheaper Digimate is better in this respect). P.S. Don't buy this set because of the extra 3-years warranty if you can get it cheaper without the warranty. The warranty from Sony is rubbish and a Con. Read the condition, your warranty only lasts to your first claim, which could be after one months of ownership. A good trick worked out by the Sony lawyers to get extra money for their sets, in this now very competitive 32" market place. My Digimate came with a standard 5-years collect and return warrranty without any restrictions.
Pros: A good TV but not better than cheaper budget makes.
Cons: Not for sport fans (fuzzy on fast moving objects). Somewhat irritating that important functions such as brightness and colour are not directly accessible on the remote control. Disappointing sound. The extra 3-years warranty is a con and Sony should be ashamed of themselves.

Super LCD TV - no need for a wall bracket though !, 14 Nov 2008
First things first, there is no need to buy a wall mounting bracket for this TV unless you require left to right swivel, there is a wall plate included in the box!!
Regarding the TV itself, its good, read the other reviews ! the only downside is the response time between pushing the remote control button and the system responding, but other than that it is as good as it gets for this kind of money.
Good but not great, 27 Oct 2008
This TV has its good and its bad points, but I think its good outweigh its bad.
from the right distance this TV makes a better than standard image even on scart, the PIP (picture on picture) feature Is good for when your on your pc on the screen, the PIP lets you put a channel in one of your corners of the screen so you can watch to things at once.
now for the bad points, the audio isn't great, its a little tinny but with SRS enabled the quality is a lot better, I guess you get what you pay for, apart from that I cant find any problems but that could be because this is my first TV
Lost star due to slow response, 07 Oct 2008
I bought the Samsung for kitchen use(my first LCD tv!)and it excels in every way but one. As a channel frequent hoper I find the slow response to the remote control a little frustrating especially in comparison to my freeview harddrive recorder used with an analogue TV in another room. But the picture`s great therefore so what.
Perfect as a bedroom TV, 07 Oct 2008
We bought this 10 months ago to use as a TV for our bedroom. The 19-inch screen is just right for our room - big enough to see clearly but also compact enough to sit unobtrusively on top of a chest of drawers.
In use, the quality of both picture and sound is outstanding for a set of this size and cost. We only use Freeview (in conjunction with a plug-in booster aerial) rather than the analogue signal, and picture strength and quality are both excellent.
The set looks stylish and is very easy to set up and use, the stand is sturdy, and even the remote control is pleasingly simple to use despite having the usual plethora of buttons.
My only quibble with the TV is that it has no "off" switch; you can only put it into standby mode, which is a strange omission in an increasingly energy-conscious world. The only way to switch it off properly is to unplug it at the mains, which, for us, sits behind our chest of drawers - a tad impractical!
Overall, though, this is an excellent TV - and the relatively low price (compared to, say, the Sony equivalent) is a bonus.
good tv for mum in the kitchen, 30 Sep 2008
I bought this tv based on reviews, (all worth reading) , price, (amazon good value and delivery spot-on) and based on viewing the pictures of several tvs in store. It was for my mother for her kitchen. She had 15 inch analogue sony and went digital with this straight from digital aerial. although she has sony (from amazon) in lounge this was saved money and easily met requirements for the kitchen. 19 inch is really ideal for her but the samsung also looked brighter in the store so she went for this and is delighted at 81years old. simple to use - be patient on channel change( she in no hurry) and she has no problem remembering to turn power off. well pleased.

Great good value TV, 15 Nov 2008
I bought this TV because of the price, reviews and Samsung reputation. Really happy with it, as mentioed, it's very light, and incredibly simple to set up- with a samsung blu-ray player it's a doddle with no long winded button pressing sequence to watch a film.
And there's the 4 rather than 5 stars- picture and audio with blu-ray or dvd is fantastic, but the audio from a TV signal is poor- there's no warmth or depth to it, and it is still sat next to the sony 28" crt it's replacing and the difference is a real shame. I've been through all the menus and set up "custom" sound but it's still nowhere near good with TV.
Happy to hear any suggestions, but so far a 4/5.
Samsung LE32A436 TV, 08 Nov 2008
I've had this set 3 months now and I'm very happy with it: the price is about as good as I've seen. I bought it because it's been the Best Buy in several tech magazines for about a year. Simple set-up and excellent picture - sounds good, too. Remote could be a bit better: you can't use it by pressing a button as it sits on the table, you have to hold it in your other hand. Minor quibble. As usual the Amazon process was smooth and fast.
Trish, 08 Nov 2008
Bought this Samsung tv on 28/10/08 and we are highly delighted with it so far, a slight problem first time tuning as it didn't say 'do you want to auto tune' like other models l've had it just said 'plug and play' and had to ring Samsung to find out what it meant so if anyone buying Samsung tvs just follow the 'plug and play' as it means first time tuning in. Samsung LE32A436T Review, 28 Oct 2008
Wow - what can I say. After looking at a lot of TV's, me and my husband decided on this TV. It arrived at 9:50am the next morning and it was really easy to set up even with Sky. It looks good and the picture and sound are of a very high standard! This is a bargain tv for the price and it is better than some of the more expensive ones that our friends and family have. Buy it now and with free delivery you couldn't ask for more!

Buy it now and with free delivery you couldn't ask for more!
samsung 32" lcd tv, 28 Oct 2008
[[ASIN:B0015CBBB4 Samsung LE32A436T - 32'' Widescreen HD Ready LCD TV - With Freeview
I already have a samsung 19 lcd tv which is two years old and and extremely pleased with its appearance and performance. That I decided to purchase the series 4 version and the larger size of 32" Great Price at Amazon none of my local distributors could match it. Placed the order on Saturday morning and the delivery arrived 11-50 am Tuesday. All I had to do was unpack place the base on the table and the tv slotted straight in fixed four screws power lead and usb (not provided) and switched on and it self tuned in. great looking set, picture wonderful, would recommend any one to buy ]]
Fantastic, 01 Nov 2008
Got the TV (Real part number KDL-20S3020) with a 24Hr turnaround delivery from Amazon after only taking (free) supersaver delivery. Maybe things are quiet in terms of stock turnover?
All set up and tuned in using default settings and auto tuning in less than 10 mins. This is a very easy to drive digital TV, with a bonus of a proper accessible power switch on top of the set so you don't have to turn off at the wall socket.
The picture is very very good, matching other Which? best buys I've had in the past. And the sound is much better than alternatives.
Yes it is about £100 more than the cheapest you could get at this size, but first impressions are that it is well worth it.
Build quality is great and the wide choice of connectors (2 scarts) are well positioned. Finally, this 'silver' trim finish is more of a gun-metal grey, so a nice alternative to the all black versions.
Amazon and HDNL strike again, 11 Oct 2008
Congratulations Amazon on yet another item that I will never see.
Last Christmas you managed to not deliver my Ipod and this year, for an 80th. birthday present I won't be receiving my Sony tv.
Home delivery network deserve a special thanks for their contribution. Whilst I think it's commendable that you employ idiots who would otherwise be unemployed, this doesn't really help me.
I hold my hand up and admit that I was at fault for using Amazon again after last year, and for that I apologise to myself.
As for the tv review, I'm off to Currys so will be able to write a review shortly.
Thanks again Amazon, smashing job.
Thanks also for the helpdesk lady I spoke to who asked me, after I had complained about Amazon, 'is there anything else Amazon can do for you'.
I have a large tax bill to pay so perhaps the Amazon/HDNL tag team could make that disappear as well.
Love your work,

Ideal bedroom TV, 21 Sep 2008
I was looking for a new bedroom TV to replace my 15" Trinitron. Looking around at various models, i was impressed by this TV's elegant design and simplicty. The picture is good. Motion is smooth and grain is low, while colour is rich for LCD.
The menus look basic, but do the job and offer plenty of options. The remote is good and channel switching is quick and precise.
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the sound quality. Sound is sweet, detailed and weighty compared to most rivals which seem harsh and thin. The TV has a line-in so could even double as an iPod dock.
After deciding on this TV i ordered it from amazon and it arrived within 2 days, in perfect condition. Setup was easy and my PS3 looks fantastic in HD. The only criticism is the viewing angle - which could better - although this is an issue with LCDs in general.
Overall this this is an excellent little TV.
Disappointing Analogue Subtitles, 18 Sep 2008
As we are not in a Freeview area we have to use the analogue tuner on this model & as a member of our family is hard of hearing, the subtitle facility is of great importance to us.
We were highly satisfied with our old Sony CRT TV, so Sony was a natural replacement choice. The KDL-20S3000 kept losing the analogue subtitles & we had to change channels back & forth to reinstate them. Wonderful Amazon (I echo all the other's reviews regarding their excellent sevice) sent another TV which I ran alongside the 1st TV via a multi-TV aerial amplifier. The same problem occurred on both TVs at different intervals.
Sony UK said that the new dual (analogue/digital) tuners are more sensative & require a stronger reception signal. I was disappointed as reception was fine with my old CRT TV & this TV's fault wasn't rectified with an amplifier.
The KDL-20S3000 is a lovely TV if you don't rely on subtitles. Maybe Sony should review the robustness of their tuners rather than blame the strength of reception signals.
Fantastic TV and Fantastic Delivery, 17 Sep 2008
After reading all the reviews I decided on this Sony TV and I am glad I did. It's fantastic, the quality as always with Sony is sharp and crisp. Sound is good for such a small TV but it is ideal for the bedroom. Thanks Amazon for the fast delivery - I am very impressed

Best LCD Hi Def TV on the market, 14 Nov 2008
Just bought this tv (not from Amazon), and having set it up straight from the box, all I can say is WOW! What a picture, Brilliant! It was so simple to set up. Just plug it in. Follow the on screen questions and it basically set itself up. I won't try and make any adjustments for a couple of days, just to let the set settle in. I will then tweak the picture settings to get the absolute best out of the TV. At present I am using a Sky+ box, so it is only in standard definition for the moment, however on 20th December Sky will be installing Sky HD and then WooHoo! Santa is bringing a new Panasonic BluRay player (bought from Amazon) and some BluRay DVDs. I have to say that the SD picture is superb, every bit as good as my Toshiba 32" CRT TV that it's replaced. It was a toss up between the Sony and a Samsung 686 and I'm glad I went for the Sony.
STUNNING!, 11 Nov 2008
Sony KDL-40W4500 - 40" Widescreen 100hz / 1080P Full HD Bravia LCD TV - With DLNA Technology & Freeview
Straight out of the box and into its stand and within seconds stunning TV quality!
I was a little apprehensive stageing from a Panasonic 32 inch CRT to this set, but I need not have worried. Analogue picture quality through a standard Sky + box is awesome. No halos, no blur, just excellent sharp reproduction. I expected some pixelation, bit so far, none whatsoever.
The only slight issue is the sound quality which is a bit tinny, but I have only glanced at the instructions.
In summary, why are you considering any other TV? This is AWESOME!
Sony Bravia W4500 Review, 16 Oct 2008
First off, wow, 40 inches is a great size...If i had gone to 46" i wouldn't have been able to get it onto my desk. After putting the stand on the tv which takes around 3 min, you plug it in and you have to turn it on with the power button ontop of the tv (took a while to figure that one out). I got this tv because i watch movies, tv, and play games on my PLaystation 3 and the results are beyond what i expected. The playstation 3's menu looks sharper and games look even more life like. The Tv also has a menu like the ps3's. If you want to change from ps3 to tv or pc inputs then you press home and move to the catorary you want. Films like 300 and casino royale 007 look amazing, with the 24p true cinema, Standered tv also looks good... And to finish it off two things that i think really show how much thought has gone into the tv, the logo lights up, and also the power lights ect are on a slim plastic see through strip like on the X series at the bottom of the tv, just little things but they do look cool. Overall i think its a brilliant tv and i would recomend it to anyone who was looking to spend around £950 on a tv.
Amazing with HD, ok with Digital TV, 16 Oct 2008
I bought this TV to replace a 5 year old Sony 28" CRT telly. As with the other reviewer I bought a Sony Blu-Ray player at the same time. The picture with an HD source is absolutely amazing. Pin sharp and almost 3D-like it's so detailed. The picture with Freeview on the other hand, needs a little fiddling with to get it right. For instance, it's best with the 'Noise Reduction' feature turned off but the 'MPEG Noise Reduction' turned on to max. After you make these adjustments the slightly blurred effect calms down and it all becomes much more watchable. I still don't find it as clear as my old CRT telly but I think that's more down to the fact it's a much bigger screen and it has such a high resolution. It's definitely worth going through the picture options to see what you think, I find the picture to be most natural with a lot of the aids (such as contrast enhancers, Live colour etc) turned off. All in all though it's a beautiful bit of kit (it looks really smart sat in the living room and that's important with something as big as this), the picture is fine with broadcast TV and awesome with HD. I'm pretty happy with it.
Its fab, 12 Oct 2008
It's hard to write a review of my 40W4500 objectively as I also purchased a Sony Blueray player and Sony Home Cinema system at the same time. So for example I have no idea of the sound quality of the TV is as I have never heard it, it always sends the sound to home cinema system.
So what do I know?
The picture it displays when from the aerial (in built FreeView) is great it must be upscaling the standard TV picture and it does look great. I have the same experience when it recieves TV from my hard drive recorder via scart.
The picture on DVD is harder to judge as the DVD player does the upscaling, but interestingly I watched my mates, 6 month old Tosh play blade runner on my Sony Blueray player and there were lots of articfacts or shadows or what ever you want to call them, that is stuff like shadows and the like on the picture that are not in the movie. This TV plays the movie with out any rubbish getting into the picture.
We are delighted we went all Sony as we only need one control (any of them!) to control what ever we are watching.
Setup was simple, you just screw it to the stand and start plugging the cables in. There is an auto setup to tune the TV etc.
So as far as I can see this is a great product.

Buy it now and with free delivery you couldn't ask for more!
samsung 32" lcd tv, 28 Oct 2008
Love your work,
Livid of Watford.
FWIW
Great product, Great service, 15 Nov 2008
Read all the other reviews here before making the purchase and found them very useful, informative and helpful in making final decision and supplier. The television is superb and has an amazing picture, even with our old school video recorder. This is a good incentive to now buy a hard drive recorder or a blu ray disc player! Maybe next christmas!
Price was excellent value, with no charge for delivery. We received the telly within 48 hours and gave me a treat to play with in time for the weekend and to watch the rugby. Great job!
It's Sony all the way!, 09 Nov 2008
Having just recieved the Sony KDL32W000 I am a very happy bunny. The TV is everything the experts promised and more.
Picture: Excellent! I am a Virgin Media customer and have the TV drive box and all I can say is "You will be amazed" The blacks are black, the whites are white and the motion is smooth. The football looks great, as does all the fast moving stuff!
Sound: The sound is also good, better than most other LCDs I have heard. I have to admit I use an AV amp, the Sony STRDG820, together with a set of Yamaha NSP110 and all I can say is AWESOME!
Overall this TV provides the best picture I have seen at this price.
I have connect the TV to my PS3 and I am lost for words. Crisp, sharp, clean images.Wow!
Excellent Value & Superb Service, 18 Oct 2008
Ordered last Friday and arrived next day at 11am at £150 cheaper than the high street stores! Picture and sound superb, and auto tuning makes life very easy. IMHO this is the best 32" set I've seen.
Update 2/11/08: Now have Sky+ HD and the quality of picture received on a) normal broadcasts is excellent & b) HD broadcasts totally amazing. If you are thinking of taking the HD Plunge, then you won't be disappointed by the superb qualities of this Television.
Great picture - USB key software updates needed, 07 Oct 2008
We bought our Sony Bravia KDL32W4000E HDTV a month ago. We look forward to watching the 4 HDTV 1080i mp4 channels that start transmitting here in Brittany in mid October 2008 and 4 more by the end of the year.
But the main reason we bought this TV was to watch HDV video from our Canon HV20 camescope, and to watch our photos on a large screen in HD.
The HDV tapes.... I give you 5 stars Sony, without question
When we play the HDV tapes into the TV using the HDMI cable the results are superb. Better than any sort of TV we have ever seen before. Thanks Sony, this is a marvel.
The photos.... Sony, you should sack your young designers and hire their grandmothers instead.
We tried viewing photos on the TV. Initially the results were disappointing because I put them onto CD and DVD disks without realising that the DVD players only output the standard TV picture size of 576 pixel height, so no matter how high a definition the photo, it gets downscaled to 576 pixel vertical definition in the DVD player.
I then tried transferring the photos from computer to TV via USB key. The key was not recognised because I use Mac computers and my keys were formatted for Macs.
However, when I formatted a key in MS-DOS and then put my photos on on the key in the Mac (photos presized in Adobe Photoshop Elements to 1080 pixel height) it worked. My test photos appeared on the TV screen in 1080 HD, and the results were amazingly good, so good that you really realise how grainy the old 35mm films from the 1960s and 1970s were. The difference in quality when seeing your photos in 1080 definition compared with only part of 576 pixel height (old photos are 3x2 format, not 4x3, so not all the 576 lines are used on a SD TV because of the letterboxing), then the difference in quality is spectacular.
At this point I was ready to give Sony and this TV set 5 stars several times over....
Until -- and here is my gripe.
I made up a folder with 700 photos on it, then made some changes, eliminated some photos, added others, opened some and changed the colours and light levels, resaved, etc. Then when the folder was small enough to fit onto a 1 Gb USB key I transferred the contents to the USB key and settled down to enjoy a slideshow.
This is the point that sometimes happens with a Sony product - you start to pull out your hair in frustration..... How could they spoil, due to limited thinking, what could otherwise have been a totally perfect product? My photos started to play in a different order to how I had them on the key. The reason is that on this TV only two viewing orders for photos are possible
1 - Latest saved photos first
2 - Oldest saved photos first.
This is OK for somebody with 50 or 100 photos on a digital camera but absolutely useless as a viewing system for people who have tens of thousands of photos archived on computer and who make changes and improvements all the time.
I title my photos by date taken, film roll number, negative number, then subject;
For example "19440606 R295-36 Sword beach, Normandy".
Obviously I want to see this photo immediately after "19440606 R295-35 Landing craft at sea"
This indexing system makes it possible to view several hundred photos in the correct order.
I dont want to watch 50 photos that should be seen one after the other scattered instead amongst 700 photos. I want them all together.
I want an option on the Sony TV to chose the order by title (A, B, C, 1, 2, 3, etc
How about an urgent software update Sony to correct this defect in what otherwise seems an almost perfect TV
Brief synopsis, 19 Sep 2008
This tv is brilliant for
a) hd in any form
b) ps3, 360 running through hdmi
It's poor at
a) normal tv signals
b) freeview
c) sky
I do not own this product, however a friend has bought one and this is my opinion after having messed around with it, trying things through various inputs etc.
