I've been using this for about a month and am, so far, pretty impressed with it.

I have it in my Mini and although the power adapter is a really tight fit in the cigarette lighter socket (so much so, that I have to be careful pulling it out that it doesn't take the entire socket with it!) it works a treat. The unit comes with several adapters for different types of iPod; I'm using it with a 3G iPhone and strangely, I've had to use the iPod video adapter even though it comes with an iPod Touch adapter, which I thought was basically the same casing as the iPhone.

Don't get me wrong, the reception isn't perfect and I've discovered that where the iPod is in relation to the radio and at what angle it sits in the cradle makes a BIG difference to how clear the signal is. If you can't seem to get a clear signal and you think you've chosen the best FM station, tinker around with the position of the cradle in relation to your radio head unit and eventually you'll find a winner. Having said that, the one criticism I have is that the flexible arm on which the iPod/iPhone sits is a touch too short which really limits where you can have your iPod sitting...this is especially true depending on where the cigaratte lighter adapter is located in your car.

Overall, this is an excellent product which I can definitely recommend.

My Tunebase did not work and I have sent it back as faulty. When I plugged it in to the power socket the green LED lit up and an FM frequency flashed up briefly on the screen. However, with my iPod Nano 3G playing I tried to autoscan that frequency with no success. I then manually tuned to the frequency, but no sound. After a couple of attempts I packed it up and sent it back to Amazon.

Assuming that the product does work as advertised; if you are thinking of buying a TunebaseFM, check the location of the power socket in your car. The socket on my 2007 Toyota Yaris is too low to be able to mount the TunebaseFM securely and at a convenient angle. There is another similar Belkin product, the Tunecast, that might be more appropriate, if it works that is!

I recently got an 08 renault clio and since i recieved the transmittor i cnt stop using it! Although i only own the 3rd gen ipod nano this bit of kit seems to be compatible with every ipod on the market, and comes with a variety of holders to fit any type of ipod! The sound is pretty amazing and as good as i want it to be no background noise at all. The auto scan function to search for radio frequencies is immense, saves all the hassle of finding a clean radio frequency! The product itself looks great all set up, with a really helpful flexible neck to adjust to your convenience. At first i was worried about possibly wasting £40 on yet another useless transmittor but with this product your definately getting your moneys worth. Although ive only had it for a week, so far ive had no problems and couldnt be happier with the product. cheerz belkin!

Bought this for a Porsche cayman as an upgrade from the Griffin device. Definitely worth doing for the money... Im sure its short of the capabilities of a fully wired in system (US1,000 apparently!), however really is a decent upgrade from the griffin. Better looking. Better product, quality, design, install, fitment. Better signal and sound. Scan facility works well. Adapters for various ipods provide excellent range. My nano fits in real good nice and tight!!! V Happy so far..

in the review it was written that it can transmit upto 10 meters but it doesnt even work for half a meter.

Cheap, neat and simple, I find my iTrip pretty convenient.

The sound quality is decent enough for me. Audiophiles may be disappointed but if you just want background music for driving then it's as good as tuning to any FM station. The important thing is to find a genuinely empty frequency to use- it doesn't work well on frequencies with any kind of existing signal on. The hardest place to do this, I've found, is around Birmingham.

It's even useful for having a bath, because I can put my iPod in the room next door with the iTrip in, then take a little radio into the bath and not worry about getting my iPod wet.

I already have a wired griffin itrip and thought the wireless one would be more convenient (no wires). The sound quality is very poor compared to my wired itrip. I compared them on the same stations and my wired one was much louder and clearly. I guess ive wasted £8.87 becuase im sticking with my wired itrip!

Im giving it 2 stars, becuase the gadget is neat, slick and looks kool when attached to the ipod, however, what matters is the sound quality, and unfortunately it isnt good!

As soon as i recieved these headphones i noticed they were huge, although that has so far been the only problem. They have superb sound quality and a very comfortable fit and i would definatly recommend them. Only downside is i feel like they stick way to far out from ear.

After reading the reviews here, I opted for these to replace a pair of "gym in ears" (JVC marshmallows) that had seen the inside of a washing machine.
A poor choice.
The housing is rather uncomfortable, if you find the iPod ones uncomfortable these will also not suit. The sound is poor, flabby bass overwhelms the muted washed out mids and the highs are non-existent.
I tried running them in for 48 hours, they were still no better.
Replaced them with the Sennheiser CX300's, which are rather more expensive, but infinitely better.

Great sound quality, and you can get to quite high volume without annoying your fellow train passengers. The cable is annoying as its rubbery and sticks to things (itself, clothes, furniture) so it snags and gets tangled easily.

Some people have find these headphones bassy or mushy - but they are not. These earphones do not add bass; they PRESERVE the bass that other earphones "lose". I recommend that people persevere with these earphones - soon you wont want to without them !!
I find these earphones perfect. The foam cushions mean they are comfortable and dont fall out of my ears, even when running. The sound quality is excellent. EQ is perfect and is balanced across rock, pop, R&B and dance. Also, because they are sound isolating, you dont have to have your mp3/cd player as loud which is better for you ears and those around you. The cuhions seem sturdy and replacements are readily available on ebay/amazon if you lose one (however a pack of 6 costs as much as the price of the headphones ??!!)
My only criticism is their looks - they ain't pretty. However, KOSS seem to do a set in blue/black with rounded ends called simple "PLUG". They are very similar in design and I would assume they sound equally good.
I recommend these to anyone who is looking for a quality set of headphones - and they only cost £10. Value cant be beat!!
I note that KOSS have also brought out their KEB24 headphones - I will try these next. I have high expectations based upon the KOSS Sparkplugs.

The Koss "spark plug" earphones may look incredibly ugly (and why make them white!!)but the sound quality is exceptional. The only problem I have with them is the lead is made of a rubberised texture material which tends to catch on clothing which sometimes pulls the plugs out. Apart from that they are the best sounding phones I've used.

Ok guys... Where do I start??? Had the thing for a week and wow did I get the one that was put together by the apprentice on Bank Holiday 10 minutes before clocking off. .. If I had to buy another mp4 or 5 as this one calls itself it would not be this one. After charging it for over 3 days to get about 8 minutes power from it and now the buttons just do as they please, its going back and will never darken my door again. Would I recommend it NO. Not the one I got anyway.

I was growing tired of using my heavy Sony CD player, even though it sounded great with it's mega bass, and was easy to use thank to it's remote. I wanted something small that I could easily take abroad with some video clips or movies on, and just use as a music player. An ipod was out of the question for me, as I'm one of those anything-but-ipod types. So first I looked at the Archos 605 last year, but was put off by the many customer complaints that I read here after christmas, about that player's reliability. What also put me off, was the fact that it didn't work out-of-the-box. You had to go to Archos' site and pay £15 (???) to download a video codec. And ditto to download a browser for the internet access. No thanks. Once I saw the Samsung YPP2, with it's sexy black looks I had to dig deeper. Although it doesn't play as many formats as the ipod, as long as you make sure your movies are in either AVI MOV or WMV, the Samsung software will convert them. You can even select the bit rate once you update the software to emodio too. There are also loads of free conversion tools you can download after a good Google, in order to put you DVD collection onto the player. The picture quality is excellent, and it doesn't strain the eyes watching it's 3" screen. Audio sounds superb, though I do miss Sony's mega bass. Anyway it'll save my hearing. I've update the player's firmware, which has put on some quite useful underground maps from various European and American countries. They may come in handy during future trips abroad. There is also a calculator, some games, and you can record programmes off it's radio now, as well as anything externally. Great stuff this.

One has to bear in mind, that these gadgets are delicate little pieces of equipment, so be careful about putting them in full pockets, or bags, and it's worthwhile investing in a silicone case to avoid nasty scratches.

I've given this five stars, as it's the best thing I've bought since my plasma TV.
I'm glad I bought mine before Amazon sold out. Get one!

One of the features I originaly liked about this player was it could use Windows Explorer to drag and drop files to and from the player, basicly like using a normal USB flash drive.

However the lastest firmware seems to have gotten rid of that feature. Now you can only transfer media files to the player using the Samsung software, and you can't take files off there at all! You can't even listen to the music on the device when its plugged in to the PC (which it needs to be to recharge).

Having only owned 1 mp3 player in the past (which was a very old 1GB basic mp3) this was quite a step up, and it's fantastic.

Firstly, the good points.

Menu's and Touchscreen: I doubt many regular consumers have used touchscreen, so for me it was rather daunting to think of using one. However, the player is extremely responsive and I have had no trouble at all using it. The menu's are simple and easy to navigate and logical.

Sound: The sound quality is excellent for all music types and movies. No problems or distortion when playing at top volume, and also very crisp at low. The only complaint would be the headphones that come with it, or rather the foam padding for comfort. They come off very easily (as they are a slip on desgin you attach yourself). Although this doesn't affect the sound in any way, it's a bit of a small annoyance.

Video quality: The quality of movies is superb. The screen brings out great colours and crisp quality. Can't be beaten!!

Software: The software is very good that comes with it, and practically any files can be tranferred to the player. (Not sure about AAC files, but there are regular updates.) Updates for the player are done through this software, and don't take long at all.

Bluetooth: The update functions are great. The most striking feature is the ability to connect with your mobile phone, which is a great idea. You bluetooth pair it with your mobile and any calls come through the mp3 player. I have had calls through this player when my phone was in an entirely different room 20ft or so away, and there is no distortion and the sound and your voice can be heard (by the other party) with no problems. To be honest, I prefer taking calls with this as the sound is so much clearer than through your mobile!

Now, the minor (and very minor) "bad" points.

Touchscreen /design: The main annoyance with this device is that it scratches VERY easily. I would definately reccomend leaving the plastic film on, or investing in a good quality case. My screen and outercase has a few small scratches on, which DO NOT affect the quality of the videos played (you can't see them when it is funcitoning) but turned off it looks rather messy. A fault of my own I am sure, but I didn't expect it to be so easily scratched.

Software: The disc that comes with it, "Samsung Media Suit" is a great piece that easily transfers files etc to the P2. However, it is SLOW for transferring movies and albums (as previously mentioned).

All in all, this is a great "rival" for the iPod touch and I would definately reccomend for people who want a portable and easy to use, but extremely stylish player. The 8GB version is fine! Plenty of space for movies, albums etc.

I've been using this for about a month and am, so far, pretty impressed with it.

I have it in my Mini and although the power adapter is a really tight fit in the cigarette lighter socket (so much so, that I have to be careful pulling it out that it doesn't take the entire socket with it!) it works a treat. The unit comes with several adapters for different types of iPod; I'm using it with a 3G iPhone and strangely, I've had to use the iPod video adapter even though it comes with an iPod Touch adapter, which I thought was basically the same casing as the iPhone.

Don't get me wrong, the reception isn't perfect and I've discovered that where the iPod is in relation to the radio and at what angle it sits in the cradle makes a BIG difference to how clear the signal is. If you can't seem to get a clear signal and you think you've chosen the best FM station, tinker around with the position of the cradle in relation to your radio head unit and eventually you'll find a winner. Having said that, the one criticism I have is that the flexible arm on which the iPod/iPhone sits is a touch too short which really limits where you can have your iPod sitting...this is especially true depending on where the cigaratte lighter adapter is located in your car.

Overall, this is an excellent product which I can definitely recommend.

Belkin iPod TunebaseFM
My Tunebase did not work and I have sent it back as faulty. When I plugged it in to the power socket the green LED lit up and an FM frequency flashed up briefly on the screen. However, with my iPod Nano 3G playing I tried to autoscan that frequency with no success. I then manually tuned to the frequency, but no sound. After a couple of attempts I packed it up and sent it back to Amazon.

Assuming that the product does work as advertised; if you are thinking of buying a TunebaseFM, check the location of the power socket in your car. The socket on my 2007 Toyota Yaris is too low to be able to mount the TunebaseFM securely and at a convenient angle. There is another similar Belkin product, the Tunecast, that might be more appropriate, if it works that is!

Like many of previous buyers listed below ive had plenty of bad experiences with ipod transmitters for use with car stereos. I recently got an 08 renault clio and since i recieved the transmittor i cnt stop using it! Although i only own the 3rd gen ipod nano this bit of kit seems to be compatible with every ipod on the market, and comes with a variety of holders to fit any type of ipod! The sound is pretty amazing and as good as i want it to be no background noise at all. The auto scan function to search for radio frequencies is immense, saves all the hassle of finding a clean radio frequency! The product itself looks great all set up, with a really helpful flexible neck to adjust to your convenience. At first i was worried about possibly wasting £40 on yet another useless transmittor but with this product your definately getting your moneys worth. Although ive only had it for a week, so far ive had no problems and couldnt be happier with the product. cheerz belkin!

Bought this for a Porsche cayman as an upgrade from the Griffin device. Definitely worth doing for the money... Im sure its short of the capabilities of a fully wired in system (US1,000 apparently!), however really is a decent upgrade from the griffin. Better looking. Better product, quality, design, install, fitment. Better signal and sound. Scan facility works well. Adapters for various ipods provide excellent range. My nano fits in real good nice and tight!!! V Happy so far..

Cheap, neat and simple, I find my iTrip pretty convenient.

The sound quality is decent enough for me. Audiophiles may be disappointed but if you just want background music for driving then it's as good as tuning to any FM station. The important thing is to find a genuinely empty frequency to use- it doesn't work well on frequencies with any kind of existing signal on. The hardest place to do this, I've found, is around Birmingham.

It's even useful for having a bath, because I can put my iPod in the room next door with the iTrip in, then take a little radio into the bath and not worry about getting my iPod wet.

I already have a wired griffin itrip and thought the wireless one would be more convenient (no wires). The sound quality is very poor compared to my wired itrip. I compared them on the same stations and my wired one was much louder and clearly. I guess ive wasted £8.87 becuase im sticking with my wired itrip!

Im giving it 2 stars, becuase the gadget is neat, slick and looks kool when attached to the ipod, however, what matters is the sound quality, and unfortunately it isnt good!

As soon as i recieved these headphones i noticed they were huge, although that has so far been the only problem. They have superb sound quality and a very comfortable fit and i would definatly recommend them. Only downside is i feel like they stick way to far out from ear.

After reading the reviews here, I opted for these to replace a pair of "gym in ears" (JVC marshmallows) that had seen the inside of a washing machine.
A poor choice.
The housing is rather uncomfortable, if you find the iPod ones uncomfortable these will also not suit. The sound is poor, flabby bass overwhelms the muted washed out mids and the highs are non-existent.
I tried running them in for 48 hours, they were still no better.
Replaced them with the Sennheiser CX300's, which are rather more expensive, but infinitely better.

Great sound quality, and you can get to quite high volume without annoying your fellow train passengers. The cable is annoying as its rubbery and sticks to things (itself, clothes, furniture) so it snags and gets tangled easily.

Some people have find these headphones bassy or mushy - but they are not. These earphones do not add bass; they PRESERVE the bass that other earphones "lose". I recommend that people persevere with these earphones - soon you wont want to without them !!
I find these earphones perfect. The foam cushions mean they are comfortable and dont fall out of my ears, even when running. The sound quality is excellent. EQ is perfect and is balanced across rock, pop, R&B and dance. Also, because they are sound isolating, you dont have to have your mp3/cd player as loud which is better for you ears and those around you. The cuhions seem sturdy and replacements are readily available on ebay/amazon if you lose one (however a pack of 6 costs as much as the price of the headphones ??!!)
My only criticism is their looks - they ain't pretty. However, KOSS seem to do a set in blue/black with rounded ends called simple "PLUG". They are very similar in design and I would assume they sound equally good.
I recommend these to anyone who is looking for a quality set of headphones - and they only cost £10. Value cant be beat!!
I note that KOSS have also brought out their KEB24 headphones - I will try these next. I have high expectations based upon the KOSS Sparkplugs.

The Koss "spark plug" earphones may look incredibly ugly (and why make them white!!)but the sound quality is exceptional. The only problem I have with them is the lead is made of a rubberised texture material which tends to catch on clothing which sometimes pulls the plugs out. Apart from that they are the best sounding phones I've used.

Ok guys... Where do I start??? Had the thing for a week and wow did I get the one that was put together by the apprentice on Bank Holiday 10 minutes before clocking off. .. If I had to buy another mp4 or 5 as this one calls itself it would not be this one. After charging it for over 3 days to get about 8 minutes power from it and now the buttons just do as they please, its going back and will never darken my door again. Would I recommend it NO. Not the one I got anyway.

Very good item to have if you own an iPod that you use a lot. I find my iPod has a poor battery life and while I can charge it on my PC, I like to know when I use it in the car that I can charge it when needed.
This charger works extremely well and while a tad tight for the lighter socket in the car, it does the job and I found it to be very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend that you get one.

I was mildly disappointed when I received the Logic 3 car charger because having read the other reviews, I expected it to come with the handy addition of a firewire cable - and it doesn't (perhaps the design has changed, otherwise the other reviewer was reviewing a different item (PodGear Powertrip perhaps??).

Nonetheless, it's still a handy thing to have, and as you'd expect, it charges the iPod from the lighter socket in the car.

What a neat design !

My IPOD came with a USB cable (that doubles as an electricity-socket-based charger) but not a firewire cable. The Logic3 Car Charger for IPOD takes the same USB idea from Apple, but uses a firewire cable that slots into a car-charger adapter.

I use the firewire cable in the PC and keep the car-charing adapter in the car, taking along my IPOD and cable if I need to charge the IPOD along a journey.

Very pleased.

Some people have find these headphones bassy or mushy - but they are not. These earphones do not add bass; they PRESERVE the bass that other earphones "lose". I recommend that people persevere with these earphones - soon you wont want to without them !!
I find these earphones perfect. The foam cushions mean they are comfortable and dont fall out of my ears, even when running. The sound quality is excellent. EQ is perfect and is balanced across rock, pop, R&B and dance. Also, because they are sound isolating, you dont have to have your mp3/cd player as loud which is better for you ears and those around you. The cuhions seem sturdy and replacements are readily available on ebay/amazon if you lose one (however a pack of 6 costs as much as the price of the headphones ??!!)
My only criticism is their looks - they ain't pretty. However, KOSS seem to do a set in blue/black with rounded ends called simple "PLUG". They are very similar in design and I would assume they sound equally good.
I recommend these to anyone who is looking for a quality set of headphones - and they only cost £10. Value cant be beat!!
I note that KOSS have also brought out their KEB24 headphones - I will try these next. I have high expectations based upon the KOSS Sparkplugs.

The Koss "spark plug" earphones may look incredibly ugly (and why make them white!!)but the sound quality is exceptional. The only problem I have with them is the lead is made of a rubberised texture material which tends to catch on clothing which sometimes pulls the plugs out. Apart from that they are the best sounding phones I've used.

Ok guys... Where do I start??? Had the thing for a week and wow did I get the one that was put together by the apprentice on Bank Holiday 10 minutes before clocking off. .. If I had to buy another mp4 or 5 as this one calls itself it would not be this one. After charging it for over 3 days to get about 8 minutes power from it and now the buttons just do as they please, its going back and will never darken my door again. Would I recommend it NO. Not the one I got anyway.

I was growing tired of using my heavy Sony CD player, even though it sounded great with it's mega bass, and was easy to use thank to it's remote. I wanted something small that I could easily take abroad with some video clips or movies on, and just use as a music player. An ipod was out of the question for me, as I'm one of those anything-but-ipod types. So first I looked at the Archos 605 last year, but was put off by the many customer complaints that I read here after christmas, about that player's reliability. What also put me off, was the fact that it didn't work out-of-the-box. You had to go to Archos' site and pay £15 (???) to download a video codec. And ditto to download a browser for the internet access. No thanks. Once I saw the Samsung YPP2, with it's sexy black looks I had to dig deeper. Although it doesn't play as many formats as the ipod, as long as you make sure your movies are in either AVI MOV or WMV, the Samsung software will convert them. You can even select the bit rate once you update the software to emodio too. There are also loads of free conversion tools you can download after a good Google, in order to put you DVD collection onto the player. The picture quality is excellent, and it doesn't strain the eyes watching it's 3" screen. Audio sounds superb, though I do miss Sony's mega bass. Anyway it'll save my hearing. I've update the player's firmware, which has put on some quite useful underground maps from various European and American countries. They may come in handy during future trips abroad. There is also a calculator, some games, and you can record programmes off it's radio now, as well as anything externally. Great stuff this.

One has to bear in mind, that these gadgets are delicate little pieces of equipment, so be careful about putting them in full pockets, or bags, and it's worthwhile investing in a silicone case to avoid nasty scratches.

I've given this five stars, as it's the best thing I've bought since my plasma TV.
I'm glad I bought mine before Amazon sold out. Get one!

One of the features I originaly liked about this player was it could use Windows Explorer to drag and drop files to and from the player, basicly like using a normal USB flash drive.

However the lastest firmware seems to have gotten rid of that feature. Now you can only transfer media files to the player using the Samsung software, and you can't take files off there at all! You can't even listen to the music on the device when its plugged in to the PC (which it needs to be to recharge).

Having only owned 1 mp3 player in the past (which was a very old 1GB basic mp3) this was quite a step up, and it's fantastic.

Firstly, the good points.

Menu's and Touchscreen: I doubt many regular consumers have used touchscreen, so for me it was rather daunting to think of using one. However, the player is extremely responsive and I have had no trouble at all using it. The menu's are simple and easy to navigate and logical.

Sound: The sound quality is excellent for all music types and movies. No problems or distortion when playing at top volume, and also very crisp at low. The only complaint would be the headphones that come with it, or rather the foam padding for comfort. They come off very easily (as they are a slip on desgin you attach yourself). Although this doesn't affect the sound in any way, it's a bit of a small annoyance.

Video quality: The quality of movies is superb. The screen brings out great colours and crisp quality. Can't be beaten!!

Software: The software is very good that comes with it, and practically any files can be tranferred to the player. (Not sure about AAC files, but there are regular updates.) Updates for the player are done through this software, and don't take long at all.

Bluetooth: The update functions are great. The most striking feature is the ability to connect with your mobile phone, which is a great idea. You bluetooth pair it with your mobile and any calls come through the mp3 player. I have had calls through this player when my phone was in an entirely different room 20ft or so away, and there is no distortion and the sound and your voice can be heard (by the other party) with no problems. To be honest, I prefer taking calls with this as the sound is so much clearer than through your mobile!

Now, the minor (and very minor) "bad" points.

Touchscreen /design: The main annoyance with this device is that it scratches VERY easily. I would definately reccomend leaving the plastic film on, or investing in a good quality case. My screen and outercase has a few small scratches on, which DO NOT affect the quality of the videos played (you can't see them when it is funcitoning) but turned off it looks rather messy. A fault of my own I am sure, but I didn't expect it to be so easily scratched.

Software: The disc that comes with it, "Samsung Media Suit" is a great piece that easily transfers files etc to the P2. However, it is SLOW for transferring movies and albums (as previously mentioned).

All in all, this is a great "rival" for the iPod touch and I would definately reccomend for people who want a portable and easy to use, but extremely stylish player. The 8GB version is fine! Plenty of space for movies, albums etc.

Very good item to have if you own an iPod that you use a lot. I find my iPod has a poor battery life and while I can charge it on my PC, I like to know when I use it in the car that I can charge it when needed.
This charger works extremely well and while a tad tight for the lighter socket in the car, it does the job and I found it to be very reasonably priced. Definitely recommend that you get one.

I was mildly disappointed when I received the Logic 3 car charger because having read the other reviews, I expected it to come with the handy addition of a firewire cable - and it doesn't (perhaps the design has changed, otherwise the other reviewer was reviewing a different item (PodGear Powertrip perhaps??).

Nonetheless, it's still a handy thing to have, and as you'd expect, it charges the iPod from the lighter socket in the car.

What a neat design !

My IPOD came with a USB cable (that doubles as an electricity-socket-based charger) but not a firewire cable. The Logic3 Car Charger for IPOD takes the same USB idea from Apple, but uses a firewire cable that slots into a car-charger adapter.

I use the firewire cable in the PC and keep the car-charing adapter in the car, taking along my IPOD and cable if I need to charge the IPOD along a journey.

Very pleased.

Dear review readers,

I have struggled to get one of these. Other internet vendors are unable to get stock from Logitech. The suggestion is that Logitech are producing the Boom in order to promote it heavily and keep letting vendors and their customers down so I was surprised when Amazon/Pimxania had any. Pix call it a Wireless Network Player although everyone else calls it the Classic. Not sure why. Logitech need to realise that setting stock delivery dates that they repeatedly fail to meet is annoying people. Plus why put all your eggs in a product which will never be hifi when the success of the range thus far has been a decent DAC which only appeals to nerds (like me.)

Anyhoo, it has now arrived. Well packaged. I set it up in about 10 minutes, instructions still in bag up until the point where I had to determine the firewall settings. I am no IT genius but I got it connected to my hidden and encrypted wireless network after a few attempts and as I had already downloaded Squeezecentre and loaded up my entire 8 days worth of CD collection I was listening to music in a different part of my house within quater of an hour.

I had bought it for summer evenings on the back patio/conservatory. I suppose thats next year now. My main hifi is in the dining room where it gets most use. I didnt want an Ipod/docking station (for the garden/conservatory) as I have fat fingers and felt this was the best alternative/use of new PC. I secretly fancy a sonus system but I am not currently wealthy enough. I bought an aego 2.1 active monitor set to go with the squeezebox which sound good. It will work well, and the display looks like it will be very visible, through red wine induced summer evenings.

So far have struggled to get the range I need for the garden but I suspect with a little jiggling and moving of things that will be fine. Old house. Thick walls.

Whilst I am familiarising its currently hooked up to my hifi in the dining room. I compared the sound quality with CD direct. Its quite close. The CD player is a 4/5 year old £300 NAD player and matching NAD amp through some nice speakers on iron stands. Nothing too special but hifi none the less.

I can tell the difference but I have to say the squeezebox isnt bad on sound. Probably just a little thinner than the CD but barely noticable once youve adjusted the gain for what appears to be a slightly weaker line level from the Squeezebox. I suspect it has as much to do with my file format as the Squeezebox itself. For information I loaded my collection onto itunes (squeezecentre can be directed to the itunes directory easily) using the AAC encoder at 256kbs.

I am still getting use to the controls to find the music I want. However, the shuffle feature is re-opening some wonderful familiar memories of music I forgot I loved.

Wonderful little bit of kit. Really very special. Anybody on here who has down marked this due to finding it a bit difficult to set up shame on you. Dont buy things you dont understand unless you are prepared to have a fiddle, do a bit of research, or ask a youngster to help with. Find something less revealing about your technical inadequcies to moan about.

Next gadget will be a external hard drive so I can turn my PC off and still use the squeezebox. But that can wait.

I'll start by saying I think these things really are very good.

But...
When I got my first Squeezebox 3 I was slightly underwhelmed by the music quality. It was good, but it lacked a bit of sparkle when compared to the original CD (and that was with flac files). There was a lot of discussion on various Squeezebox forums about upgrading the power supply, so I gave that a try. All sorts of exotic and expensive solutions were recommended, but they didn't have any of that stuff down at Maplins. So I ended up buying a "Variable Voltage Switched Mode AC/CD Mains Adapter" for about £30.
Boy, did that make a difference. Now I can't tell the difference between the Squeezebox & CDs when I switch my amp between the 2 different sources.

Now I generally think that the hi-fi "business" of spending silly money on 6" lengths of wire is a bit "emperors new clothes", unless you have the hearing ability of a bat (or cat). So if I can hear a difference, there really is one. I guess it's because the new power supply can deliver 5 amps as opposed to the 2 amps of the original equipment.
I'll add a proviso here - it's a year or 2 since I bought me Squeezeboxes and they may have improved the power supply since then. Check its amperage rating I guess.

Apart from that, I endorse all the 5 star ratings here. It's great. It will make you realise how bad the tagging is on all your music files though. Get ready for a few evenings trying to get them all sorted!

This is a remarkable. It does what it says efficiently and well. I don't understand the "ins and outs" of networking, but you do not need to and it matters not that the manual is a little thin and seems to stop at XP. Set up via a BT Home Hub to an Acer Travelmate Laptop was easy. Works well with Vista except I can't work out how to set "WoL" from the box - may be a weakness of Vista or my laptop. The software is a little clunky but okay. Most importantly, the sound played through a Yamaha Hi Fi set up is good even at lower bit rates. I would recommend this bit of equipment.

I had made the mistake of incorporating internet radio functionality in the purchase of a Yamaha RX-V2700 home-cinema receiver. The software utilised in the Yamaha is v.Tuner. The user manual misrepresented v.Tuner's ability to stream WMA and WAV files in addition to its MP3 operability. Subsequently, favourite stations were delivered in poor bitrate levels, or were not available if not transmitted in MP3.

The purchase of the Squeezebox, however, rescued this dire situation. Favourite radio stations are delivered in the highest bit rate quality (and to my ears, at least, at near CD quality), and, more importantly, all the stations that I desire are available. Moreover, if you can source the broadcast stream address of the particular station, you simply input the details in the SqueezeNetwork favourites menu.

The AlienBBC plug-in provides access to BBC Radio archive material - and the free iPeng software adds Apple iPod Touch/iPhone remote control accessibility of your Squeezebox.

Also, accessing RSS feeds for you chosen suite of podcasts in SqueezeNetwork also saves the bother of having to access iTunes from your computer. Plus, there's the ability to playback music already stored on your computer - especially if your running something like the 'LaCie Ethernet Disk mini - Home Edition' (available from Amazon), where you connect the hard drive to your router for music access by the Squeezebox.

This is the bargain of all bargains. Strongly recommended - not just 5 stars, but 10.

LIQUIDAUX F/ IPOD

I've been using this for about a month and am, so far, pretty impressed with it.

I have it in my Mini and although the power adapter is a really tight fit in the cigarette lighter socket (so much so, that I have to be careful pulling it out that it doesn't take the entire socket with it!) it works a treat. The unit comes with several adapters for different types of iPod; I'm using it with a 3G iPhone and strangely, I've had to use the iPod video adapter even though it comes with an iPod Touch adapter, which I thought was basically the same casing as the iPhone.

Don't get me wrong, the reception isn't perfect and I've discovered that where the iPod is in relation to the radio and at what angle it sits in the cradle makes a BIG difference to how clear the signal is. If you can't seem to get a clear signal and you think you've chosen the best FM station, tinker around with the position of the cradle in relation to your radio head unit and eventually you'll find a winner. Having said that, the one criticism I have is that the flexible arm on which the iPod/iPhone sits is a touch too short which really limits where you can have your iPod sitting...this is especially true depending on where the cigaratte lighter adapter is located in your car.

Overall, this is an excellent product which I can definitely recommend.

Belkin iPod TunebaseFM
My Tunebase did not work and I have sent it back as faulty. When I plugged it in to the power socket the green LED lit up and an FM frequency flashed up briefly on the screen. However, with my iPod Nano 3G playing I tried to autoscan that frequency with no success. I then manually tuned to the frequency, but no sound. After a couple of attempts I packed it up and sent it back to Amazon.

Assuming that the product does work as advertised; if you are thinking of buying a TunebaseFM, check the location of the power socket in your car. The socket on my 2007 Toyota Yaris is too low to be able to mount the TunebaseFM securely and at a convenient angle. There is another similar Belkin product, the Tunecast, that might be more appropriate, if it works that is!

Like many of previous buyers listed below ive had plenty of bad experiences with ipod transmitters for use with car stereos. I recently got an 08 renault clio and since i recieved the transmittor i cnt stop using it! Although i only own the 3rd gen ipod nano this bit of kit seems to be compatible with every ipod on the market, and comes with a variety of holders to fit any type of ipod! The sound is pretty amazing and as good as i want it to be no background noise at all. The auto scan function to search for radio frequencies is immense, saves all the hassle of finding a clean radio frequency! The product itself looks great all set up, with a really helpful flexible neck to adjust to your convenience. At first i was worried about possibly wasting £40 on yet another useless transmittor but with this product your definately getting your moneys worth. Although ive only had it for a week, so far ive had no problems and couldnt be happier with the product. cheerz belkin!

Bought this for a Porsche cayman as an upgrade from the Griffin device. Definitely worth doing for the money... Im sure its short of the capabilities of a fully wired in system (US1,000 apparently!), however really is a decent upgrade from the griffin. Better looking. Better product, quality, design, install, fitment. Better signal and sound. Scan facility works well. Adapters for various ipods provide excellent range. My nano fits in real good nice and tight!!! V Happy so far..

Cheap, neat and simple, I find my iTrip pretty convenient.

The sound quality is decent enough for me. Audiophiles may be disappointed but if you just want background music for driving then it's as good as tuning to any FM station. The important thing is to find a genuinely empty frequency to use- it doesn't work well on frequencies with any kind of existing signal on. The hardest place to do this, I've found, is around Birmingham.

It's even useful for having a bath, because I can put my iPod in the room next door with the iTrip in, then take a little radio into the bath and not worry about getting my iPod wet.

the sound quality is really good yes there may be a few buzzes in the background but when the music is on you wont be able to hear it.

I already have a wired griffin itrip and thought the wireless one would be more convenient (no wires). The sound quality is very poor compared to my wired itrip. I compared them on the same stations and my wired one was much louder and clearly. I guess ive wasted £8.87 becuase im sticking with my wired itrip!

Im giving it 2 stars, becuase the gadget is neat, slick and looks kool when attached to the ipod, however, what matters is the sound quality, and unfortunately it isnt good!

As soon as i recieved these headphones i noticed they were huge, although that has so far been the only problem. They have superb sound quality and a very comfortable fit and i would definatly recommend them. Only downside is i feel like they stick way to far out from ear.

After reading the reviews here, I opted for these to replace a pair of "gym in ears" (JVC marshmallows) that had seen the inside of a washing machine.
A poor choice.
The housing is rather uncomfortable, if you find the iPod ones uncomfortable these will also not suit. The sound is poor, flabby bass overwhelms the muted washed out mids and the highs are non-existent.
I tried running them in for 48 hours, they were still no better.
Replaced them with the Sennheiser CX300's, which are rather more expensive, but infinitely better.

Great sound quality, and you can get to quite high volume without annoying your fellow train passengers. The cable is annoying as its rubbery and sticks to things (itself, clothes, furniture) so it snags and gets tangled easily.

Touchscreen /design: The main annoyance with this device is that it scratches VERY easily. I would definately reccomend leaving the plastic film on, or investing in a good quality case. My screen and outercase has a few small scratches on, which DO NOT affect the quality of the videos played (you can't see them when it is funcitoning) but turned off i
