kenwood radio with aux in, 04 Oct 2008
i bought this for my lorry since it has a aux in for my mp3 player and was mega cheap really good product for the price
Very good for the price, 07 Aug 2008
Knowing the brand "Kenwood" I was confident that this audio system would provide a decent sound, and on that score I'm not disappointed. Also, as I was replacing an old audio in my 1997 Citroen van I was pleased that it was very straightforward - the sockets were actually compatable! The only problem I had was the FM aerial plug as it was different so I had to make up an adapter to plug it in (I guess these can be bought if necessary?) The only real gripe, as mentioned on previous review, is the difficulty working out the instructions, it's far from straightforward and difficult to know whether the model has certain features or not i.e. Clock? The manual suggests there is a clock incorporated yet in the MENU there is no mention of it? I've also not yet got MW/LW sound so I've still got to work that out (Want to be able to listen to the cricket when it's on).
Apart from the above gripes, I'm very happy, it's far better than what I had before, even the speakers seem to have a new life (I thought I was going to have to change those).
Incidently, I purchased thru Amazon/Car Audio Security on 2/8/08 and rcvd 5/8/08 via CityLink - brilliant service!
Noticed price has since gone up so was lucky there too......

Excellent bit of kit, 12 Jul 2008
I bought one of these to install in my 2005 Nissan X-trail to replace the stock stereo (CY690), principally because I was fed up of the poor reception of the FM transmitter I bought to play mp3's from my Sandisk E280 mp3 player. I figured, why not get bluetooth capability as well as the ability to plug in the mp3 player directly via a 3.5mm jack. But what I also wanted was to retain the functionality of the stock steering wheel audio control stalk and the voiceover audio from the built-in satnav.
Am not disappointed. The order turned up the next day from Dynamic Sound Ltd. It comes with facia, 3.5mm jack lead (which is not very good quality), a set of leads that convert from ISO to the Sony specific input socket. I had to buy an expensive (nearly half the price of the stereo) ICT 29-644 converter lead and Sony Remote Adaptor (ICT 29-008) from http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk to interface with the Nissan specific connectors (they also do other manufacturer adaptor cables as well). It worked first time (just make sure you also plug the aerial in otherwise the BT2600 will just sit there and do nothing) AND I have full control from the steering wheel AND the satnav voice-over mutes the audio when it's talking.
The sound quality of audio play back is very good, much better than the stock Nissan stereo. Linking my phone in was childs play (once I'd read the manual). I have a Motorola Razr v3i which has excellent voice recognition, so you can voice dial at the push of a button. The BT2600 mutes the audio, you make your call, and when you hang up it unmutes the audio. Superb! I have yet to try making a call whilst driving, so I'll edit this once I've done it (so I can confirm whether the sound quality is any good).
I have also yet to try the CD and mp3 from CD functionality, but since I have an mp3 player anyway, I'm not too fussed about it.
I was sceptical about the adaptor cables retaining the satnav voiceover (which I don't use anyway), but much to my surprise, it works! The satnav voiceover comes out of the front passenger side speaker and the music audio is partially muted, which is exactly the same effect as with the stock Nissan stereo. Bonus!
So all in all, I'm very very happy with it.
Great but a Little Flawed, 10 Jul 2008
A2DP is definitely the future for car audio and MP3s. No more trailing wires to your Ipod and no dodgy FM transmitter sound.
This way you use your phone as a true one-stop media device. I have movies, MP3s and sat-nav on my N95 and they all route through the car speakers (via this head unit and bluetooth AD2P) in perfect stereo.
The problem is the phone handsfree - it has very poor echo cancellation so people will struggle to hear you at speed. I have to stop to take important calls and switch the engine off (which kind of defeats the object). All Sony needed to do was include a separate microphone you could connect. Worse the in-built microphone is behind the fascia.
Don't get me wrong though this is worth it just for the MP3s via bluetooth.
Get one of these and flog your Ipod today!!!
sony bt2600, 15 Mar 2008
This is a review about the 2008 version of the already popular bt2500.
I bought this from new image hifi who sent it quickly and well packed. The free gift was missing but they have promised to send one on.
The item comes with a harness ( one into two) one for the speakers and one for the power cables and an arial adaptor. I have an audi a2. Plug the exisiting inputs in and away you go. Blooth tooth works a treat ( both music streaming and phone calls/answer) and the stereo sounds great. One can control the phone re music and calling via the headunit. Even voice activation works.
Advantages over previous model i am aware of-1. this has pre-amp outs but i did not need these and one can attach a steering column/ joy stick as well as ipod via a special module to buy separately.
best wishes

Solid and reliable, 30 Aug 2008
I upgraded my original cassette/radio for one of these, and I'm not disappointed. I specifically wanted a volume dial to turn, which is fairly positive, though could be a bit heavier... Its nice to look at too, bright blue light around the volume and red illumination for the other buttons.
It has a random function, which is handy for my mp3 cds, though one complaint I do have is that the Previous and Next (<< + >>) buttons, do not do random, they move to the next song number. I feel this could easily be improved. Clear sound, with no cd skipping so far for me, and I have been down some fairly rough tracks.
Its the quality you expect from Pioneer, in a stylish, subtle package. I don't like over the top chrome and LEDs and racing stripes... or whatever they have on Headunits now. Simple, clean and easy to navigate and use is what I want and this performs wonderfully. If you are after a decent replacement, and not wanting the cost to spiral ridiculously, then I can recommend this above the flood of other units.

Hi, had the Sony CDXGT828 bout a week now and feel compelled to write, as I found it hard to find any user reviews.
Visually a nice fascia, chrome knob has a nice band of rubber around it, aiding grip.
The front usb sits behind a flap which looks and feels class.
The usual Sony back drop video's in the main display, vu meters and graphic equalizer displays under the track info, you can opt for just titles (thankfully) which only display artist, or title, or album, which is a shame, sure they could of fitted it on the screen.
Colour settings change all buttons (red, green & blue) except for the screen and light around the knob, which I must point out seems very bright on a unlit road at night, very distractingly. Bare in mind also the constantly flashing led, if you have one on your usb stick.
I find the fascia tricky to click into place, inserting the bottom in its hinges then flipping closed, I'm used to Kenwood's that just clip in flush, guess I'll get used to that.
I brought it for the front usb (I use memory stick)and was worried about browsing my files, I think Sony has done a fair job with it's browser, which basically displays a list of folders that contain files, i.e mp3's, not the folders that they are in, i.e I have a folder named 'Drum & Bass', inside is a folder named 'New Stuff', only 'New Stuff' will be displayed in the list, which doesn't help navigation in a vast collection. The data knob works a treat tho, must be said, scrolls nice and fast. Spot on Sony.
For the money (£100) I'm very pleased. There wasn't a great deal of choice for what I wanted, regardless of cost. I'm just stoked to get ALL my music on the road! Oh and mine came with remote control :)

kenwood radio with aux in, 04 Oct 2008
i bought this for my lorry since it has a aux in for my mp3 player and was mega cheap really good product for the price
Noticed price has since gone up so was lucky there too......
excellent product, 21 Mar 2008
this car stereo is a good buy. u dont need to spend a fortune if u want a car stereo that gives u quality sound and better reception for radio. i'll recommend it to anyone.
Advantages over previous model i am aware of-1. this has pre-amp outs but i did not need these and one can attach a steering column/ joy stick as well as ipod via a special module to buy separately.
best wishes

amazing price for this stereo the sound is superb total control of ipod from headunit usb is on the back so no wires showing controls take a bit to get used to but when you do no downsides to this stereo

Decent Multi-format player, 23 Oct 2008
I'm generally very please with the GT420U.
Pros:
- Plays common music formats (MP3/AAC/WMA) and works well irrespective of folder layout.
- Reads ID tags and displays well.
- Good sound quality.
- Great radio.
- Easy to install.
The single flaw that stops a 5-star review is that it comes with a remote control and this is needed to change the clock and take the display out of demo mode. The remote is small and no doubt easy to misplace, and then it's going to be seriously annoying.
great unit from sony, 09 Mar 2008
in short, this is a great unit due to easy installation and operation, very powerful sound (even with unamped speakers), brilliant usb feature (works well with my sony NW-E016 walkman, as well as simple flash memory drives), ease of use (sony systems always have simple controls and menus),pretty cool styling, good value for money, useful 7 preset equaliser settings, and remote control (why not?! useful if youre working on your car). great peice of kit in my opinion, especially if you dont intend to amp your speaker as it delivers a very powerful sound (if your speakers are any good).

Reasonable unit but hopeless for Ipod, 18 Jul 2008
This is a fine sounding car stereo, but the user interface is abysmal.
The buttons are tiny and indecypherable while you drive along.
The main reason I bought this stereo was price and the promise of being able to control your ipod which can be safely tucked away in the glovebox. The ipod control is absolutely hopeless, scrolling through thousands of songs is simply not feasible while driving along. I would like to have a favourites playlist on shuffle but this is nigh on impossible to set up. Everytime I get in the car it seems to revert to starting from the first thing on the ipod - so i get stuck with the sun always shines on tv by a-ha....
There must be better stereos out there ease of use. I will be reverting to plugging the ipod in through the front mounted USB interface and controlling directly through the ipod in future, but that's not what I bought it to do.

no seriously i think this is a good quality sound system that u can drive to with ease 1touch bottons and looks great..
my mp3 player works great with it doesnt take long to load any tracks ,,,

Almost very good, 02 Apr 2008
Looks good, sounds good, however....
....interface to ipod is appalling. As noted in a previous review, why on earth did Sony not use the volume control to search through music library? One has to scroll up and down through artists using the +/- buttons and it loads the first song against each artist before moving on. Therefore pressing and holding the + (or -) button does not provide a fast scroll. I wanted to access Muse and it took over 5 mins to get there! Ok, so I could delete A-Ha, Abba, Adam and the Ants, and so on, but the whole point of an ipod is that it holds ALL your music, not just the stuff you are listening to at the moment.

kenwood radio with aux in, 04 Oct 2008
i bought this for my lorry since it has a aux in for my mp3 player and was mega cheap really good product for the price
Noticed price has since gone up so was lucky there too......
excellent product, 21 Mar 2008
this car stereo is a good buy. u dont need to spend a fortune if u want a car stereo that gives u quality sound and better reception for radio. i'll recommend it to anyone.
Advantages over previous model i am aware of-1. this has pre-amp outs but i did not need these and one can attach a steering column/ joy stick as well as ipod via a special module to buy separately.
best wishes

amazing price for this stereo the sound is superb total control of ipod from headunit usb is on the back so no wires showing controls take a bit to get used to but when you do no downsides to this stereo
Impressed, 24 Oct 2008
Excellent product !, 31 Jul 2008
Another great Pioneer product. If you want a good quality car cd player at a good price, buy this product. It sounds great, is easy to use and can even read mp3 cds. Recommended.

wonderful, 28 Aug 2008
bought this from halfords who also fitted it for me. this replaced my factory fitted stereo in my zafira.
i am so glad i bought this. totally blown away by the sound when i played the cd.
i was thinking of changing the speakers as i thought at least one of them was blown. but how wrong was i. the sound from the same speakers is almost 100% better now.
the blue light is so cool when u turn the unit on. u can attach a USB and an i ipod which u can control through the stereo. althogh this has to be either the nano (i tried my niece's nano and it worked) or the latest generation ipod. i have the mini. it sounds great when connected via the aux input but i cant control it with the kenwood. it also playes my MP3 CD's and they sound fantastic.
even the radio sounds better. i just wish that the remote was included with t | | |
