Teachers Pet, 16 Nov 2008
This product is fantastic. I live in the UK and I bought one in America to use in the classroom. It is simple, fast and easy. Children ages 7, 8, and 9 can use it without any complications and load it up and view in in a flash. Great for using during drama/roleplay situations. Children get instant feedback and they often want to improve their productions every single time. A great bargain at this price and quality is really good.
Fantastic And Easy, 10 Nov 2008
I'm currently volunteering out in Goa India at an animal rescue centre.
I purchased the Flip after reviewing many products and found this to be the simplist one. I need to take action videos and the compact size of the flip is great. I'm not keen on the onboard software and much prefer to use windows movie maker.
Cheers

Brilliant piece of kit!, 10 Oct 2008
Received my Flip today (1 day late, but Royal Mail's fault, NOT Amazon's)
I have been looking round for a digital camcorder, some over £100. As I didn't want to spend a lot I saw this one and heard good things about it.
Good things I can agree with.
Came in a nice stylish box (first impressions are important to me), and lifts out nicely with the Flip on top and underneath you get x2 AA batteries, video cable, pouch, cord and manuals etc.
Batteries easily go in the front panel by unlocking it from the bottom and sliding the front down.
Once the batteries are in, it's ready to go! Switch it on from the side, set the date, and then hit record!
Plug it in via USB, installs in a few seconds and you can access all your video files just like you would browse a USB drive or any other memory card.
You can then either copy, edit, burn your files.
The quality I was impressed with. As it uses DivX it does have a SMALL amount of artifacts in the video, but not enough to put you off.
I was very impressed with how it handles different lighting conditions, from going dark to light etc.
Overall, it's a great piece of kit. SO easy to use, no annoying menus, just easy press buttons which do what they say!
Cannot fault this superb piece of kit.
If they bring out one that holds more footage(I know they have the Mino, but it doesn't hold more) I will most likely buy it.
Flip Video, 09 Oct 2008
The flip video is brilliant , the build quality is good and the supplied software which is supplied on the 2 gb built in card is good too. It is very easy to use just point and shoot , and the video quality is very good too. One of the best features of this video camera is that it is small, easy to use and all the things needed to operate are included in the camera , including a flip out usb connecter, this is great as you no longer need to search for the usb cable to connect and download your videos. You can also use normal AA battries , I would recommend this Video camera as its brilliant and less than £100. The built in video software is easy and fun to use also.
Flip F260B-UK Video Ultra Series Digital Camcorder Black, 07 Oct 2008
This item arrived yesterday---very quick postage and very well packed. I immediately tried it out and made a 3/4 hour video. I used the inbuilt Flip software to download the three video clips onto my intel imac. Everything worked perfectly and after download I transferred the .AV1 files (which were stored in the documents folder on my imacs hard drive) into apple imovie 6 HD. I then edited the clips before burning the resulting composite movie to DVD disc (using apple idvd). The image resolution was good--in fact almost as good as I had obtained previously using a much more expensive camcorder. The video had been taken in indifferent lighting indoors, but the resulting images were clear crisp and showed fine colour. The background sounds and conversations were recorded faithfully. I particularly liked the simple operation and the portability of this Flip device. However the supplied batteries ran down after about an hour of use. In future I will use rechargeble AA batteries and make sure I have a spare pair handy if the charge runs out. I am well pleased with this "toy" which seems to give such good results. I am sorry that I missed out on the latest price reduction of £10 butI still think this Flip very good value at the price I paid.

Cannot register and loses your recordings, 24 Oct 2008
Now this looks a very smart camcorder as was pleased when opened the box. Very confusing though when you try to get it started. Cannot register it either. When trying to register it with the disc it will only register it if you live in the states (although purchased on Amazon UK). So i tried online and that will still not register either. Filming was good though which we bought specifically for our new addition to the family. Recorded a whole dvd's worth. Could not get the disc out to use it for a friends wedding though. When finally it decided to eject i took it out and then put it back in the camcorder (for some reason i really don't know why i did) and it formatted it without me even touching it. Not good with a little one around. I lost 5 months recording that i had done. Thats because i bought the DVD+RW that Amazon recommended. It automatically wants to format a disc when you put it back in. Crazy. If i had known i would never have purchased these discs. I have given the camcorder 1 star for its recording capability and that only. The manual is hard to understand and everything else for that matter. The touch screen looks good but is difficult to figure out. The rest is rubbish and i can never recover the recordings of our little baby boy. Annoyed.

Great price, 22 Aug 2008
I love this. Haven't quite figured out how to use all the features yet, but I can use it and I like it very much. For the price it is now (I paid £178) it is a steal, although you have to add the cost of DVDs, carry-case and memory stick if you are using one. The discs (once finalised) slip straight into the PC and DVD and play in my case (although strangely one of them will not play on the DVD for some reason). Niggles: the accompanying CD turns out to be just tips for good filming. Nothing about software/editing the footage so where is that?! Took the Handycam on holiday recently and was very careful to put it in standby or turn off when not using; however, on return was surprised to see an inordinate amount of filming of the floor, feet, and the inside of the carry case. Before you blame me, as I was being very careful, I can only assume it slips into recording mode rather too easily for my liking. However, a great buy for the price.
Good, but there are better out there, 28 Jul 2008
The DVD 110 is by no means a bad camera and will serve most people well. The picture quality is not brilliant so if you really want a clear crisp picture that truly reflects the colours and depth you see with your own eyes then look elsewhere. The manual is mind boggling too... and confusingly there is also the DVD 115 model which has all the same features of the DVD 110 but 5.1 nicam surround sound recording for improved sound back on home theatre systems. All in all i can't say im dissapointed but the DVD 110 does leave you wanting more. Some nifty features however - ask to try before you buy, go into a high street electrical store and get them to demonstrate it it, if your happy get one from Amazon cheaper.
Small & Perfectly Formed, 26 Jun 2008
Was looking for a relatively inexpensive and easy to use product for use on holiday etc. So plumped for the Sony Handycam. It does what is syas - extremely easy to use and pick up, first class recoding quality (although can be noisy - shot a small clip on a nice spring day in Inverness with a slight breeze and watching playback on TV it sounds like it was blowing a gale!!).
My only criticism would be with the software supplied and instruction manual. I am not illiterate when it comes to computers but 3 months down the line, I still cannot get the Handycam to link to my pc and I have no idea how on earth one goes about editing footage with the software provided.

SOUND PROBLEM, 12 Nov 2008
WAS VERY PLEASE WITH CAMERA QUALITY AND SIZE WHEN IT ARRIVED BUT WHEN I USED IT THE SOUND IS ALMOST NON EXISTANT. I SEE NOW ANOTHER REVIEW HAS HAD SAME PROBLEM .WHEN I CONTACTED AMAZON IT SEEMS I CANNOT RETURN AS I HAVE USED THE CAMERA.I DONT KNOW HOW I WOULD KNOW IT WAS FAULTY UNTIL IT WAS USED .I ALSO PURCHASED TRIPOD AND CASE SO ALL IS NOW OF NO USE.
Poor improvement, 22 Oct 2008
I have recently returned two Mino's and am about to purchase two more Ultra series models. The reason for this backward step is the poor sound recording quality of the new Mino's compared to the previous models. I couldn't hear a thing unless we were talking loudly directly into the mic area of the Mino, whereas the ultra had amazing sound pickup even in very noisy environments. Pity, as the styling of the new ones is beautiful, and the rechargeable Batt a great advantage. If anyone can tell me I just got unlucky (twice) I ,may review my opinion, but for the moment, No sound, no good!
WHEN IS A TOY NOT A TOY?, 19 Oct 2008
Was anticipating a bit of a toy. What a pleasant surprise.
The picture quality when on a TV is superb, and not just for the price. For ease of use must be 10/10 if I can use it without reading the instructions till after the event anticipate anyone can.
What seem to be initial limitations in no memory card usage, and no normal battery usage must be traded off with the small size and price?
The weight's just enough to aid holding the digicam steady and no more.
Purchased a Belkin USB lead from Amazon to avoid damaging the flip's USB when inserting straight into my laptop's port.
The buttons are very user friendly and very pleased with the results to date.
Flip's web page has what seems to sort out any problems with their FAQs.
For the price wouldn't knock it. The editing software could be a tad better, but here again at the price and ease of use no major moans. At least you don't have to load anything on the PC it's all in the Flip.
Will make a great Christmas present.
A Camcorder for the myspace generation and Granny too!, 16 Oct 2008
I purchased two of these one white and one black, for me and my partner. The video that this device creates is of standard TV quality so is more than adequate for everyday use. You can upload directly to myspace or youtube and even maintain a vlog with it. The quality is fantastic even in relatively low light conditions.
For on the go, spur of the moment, recording it powers up in an impressive 4 seconds. This allows you to capture any sudden events that happen around you. Carrying a flip mino means that you are unlikely to miss any important family or life events ever again.
The flip mino is the successor to the flip ultra and is both smaller and lighter, not that the ultra was ever bulky! It keeps the simple controls of the ultra and introduces touch sensitive buttons, including a rewind and fast forward button. This would make a fantastic present for anyone and the one button record and stop is so easy to learn that even a technophobe granny can do it (just remember to show her how to charge it back up again).
That leads me neatly on to what I see as the only down side. The old ultra model took AA batteries and these were good usually for 5 hours as well as being easy to change on the go. The new mino has a lithium ion intern

Spoilt by wind interference, 17 Nov 2008
Bought this camcorder a few days ago so not had much chance to try it out as yet. But agree having to remove the battery to attach mains supply to connect to a PC is a nuisance. Surely users can be left to decide for themselves whether the battery has enough charge left to carry out the required operation?
The major annoyance I have found is that even with the windcut switched on the microphones turn even the slightest hint of a breeze into a howling gale on the soundtrack. My first digital camcorder about 10 years ago was a Panasonic and had the same problem which I put down to digital camcorder technology then being new. Nothing seems to have improved with Panasonic models which is a particular nuisance with this model as there is no accessory shoe or socket to connect an external mic.
Panasonic HDC-SD9, 09 Nov 2008
Having purchased a Sony High Def tv it seemed logical to upgrade my Canon MV400 digital video camcorder to a HD one. After a lot of Internet searches and reading reviews I settled on the SD9. It was a good decision, it's first use was recording a school trip to Rome and Sorrento and the results were exceptional. The clarity of the video taken of the ruins of Rome, Pompey and Herculanum are amazing and the colour and detail reproduction of the frescos in the Vatican seem spot on.
I agree with comments made about graining in low light conditions but against this, the camcorder was able to pick up details in the wall frescos inside the ruins I could not see with my eyes.
I have found the menus quite comprehensive enabling personal settings and the joystick not too fiddley. I like the use of SD cards, a 16GB easily lasted six days but I was disappointed in the very high cost if you need to buy a spare VW-VBG6 high capacity battery.
I suppose my only concern, from what other reviewers have said, is editing the results. Not having ever done it before I am not sure what software to use on my PC.
Overall a very good buy, at a good price and I can thoroughly recommend it for outstanding pictures
Great camera - stupid design flaws, 08 Oct 2008
Been using this for a couple of months now and am impressed with its pictures
Its so good it seems a little cynical to have not included a mic socket - probably not to harm sales of their pro cameras.
Obviously - You should be aware that you will need mega free memory for HD footage converted from AVCHD files - having a gig per minute is about right. But external hard drives are cheap and raw avchd is small enough to burn to disc
But there are design features that really annoy:
* The controls are fiddly and the menus not very intuitive.
* The directional nipple seems obtusely designed to be uncomfortable and is sited right next to the bump stop for the screen which makes it confusing to work the controls without looking directly at them.
Minor irritations i will admit.
But the big stupid comes with getting the movies off the camera:
*You can't take movies off the camera on battery power
This means plugging in the mains lead.
But this is obscurely hidden so you have to actually unplug the battery to stick in the oversized power cable!
Ok, you think, at least i can recharge the battery while i am removing my clips - but no. Plug in the lead to the transformer/charger and the battery won't charge. Its one or the other.
When is this a problem? When are you ever away from a power point.
Well - if you are using a laptop on the move and want to check your footage for example.
So you have to buy a usb-sd reader that will cope with BIG file sizes.
So - not reasons to choose another camera (good luck at this price), but - especially If you are used to mac levels of design, you may find the experience a little flawed by stupid little things.
panasonic HDC-SD9EB-S HD, 07 Oct 2008
I had been reading camcorder reviews for weeks before buying this camcorder from Amazon. I initially didn't think HD was the way to go because of budget contraints, but at £400 there were no other cacorders in the same league as this one. The picture clarity is fantastic not only in the view finder, but on my HP 1080p Panasonic TV as well. I use the Viera link which Panasonic offers on most of its media products and it works well. Editing the move clips was a breeze using Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c (must be "c" for Panasonic AVCHD support). The free trial software you get with the camera is not worth the time. I don't use the software that comes with it to copy the files to other media either.
Fantastic camcorder at a fantastic price. Very small form factor and fits into the palm of your hand very neatly indeed.
Great Pictures, 05 Oct 2008
Panasonic HDC-SD9EB-S HD Camcorder
This is the 5th Panasonic Camcorder I have bought over 17 years. All are working as well as they did when new. This camcorder has easily the best pictures, and the stabiliser does a superb job without degrading the picture quality.
I have also bought the optional disk burner and this works superbly.
Things are not so good when it comes to sound. All my previous camcorders have external microphone sockets and the sound obtainable is better than the built-in microphones on this (or any other small) camera can achieve.
As it stands, the camcorder is an excellent tourist product. With better sound facilities it would be good enough for serious work.

Annoyed.
No remote control, 16 Oct 2008
Page 19 of the Operating Guide (Step 1: Checking supplied items) states that the Wireless Remote Commander is supplied only with Models DCR-DVD310E/ DVD410E/DVD710E and DVD810E.
Well worth buying!, 16 Nov 2008
What an amazing little gadget! The picture and sound quality are exceptional considering the price tag and it's so easy to use that even my slightly techno-phobe husband could take footage. I'm having a little trouble emailing videos but I'm hoping that will iron itself out in time. I'd recommend buying a USB cable as I felt that using the integral USB arm is a bit precarious. I'm still giving the Flip 5 stars though, as I love it and and am so glad I bought it to preserve memories of my baby daughter. :-)
Happy hamateur, 07 Oct 2008
Bought this in August and took it on holiday to France. Easy to use, no instructions necessary, fun, simple, small and addictive!! Works a dream with iMovie on iMac, although the built-iin software is good. Transfers to IPod well to bore friends with and you can carry it around all the time. My only reservation is that long distance is not so good, but that's not really what it's for. Hours of fun, money well spent.
Fabulous!, 18 Aug 2008
Flip F260P-UK Video Ultra Series Digital Camcorder - Pink (60 mins)
I am pregnant and with my baby due this week I have been looking at Camcorders for months. I have been looking at functionality, simplicity, price and with all the things you need to buy for a baby my budget has been diminishing but I simply must capture those precious moments on video when my baby is here. I chose the Pink Flip after much deliberation and reading all the other Flip reviews. I am just so glad I bought it. The price is amazing and the gadget itself is on par with an ipod, iphone or applemac for being bang up to date. If you like your gadgets you'll love this. It is so quick - once you have installed the standard Duracell batteries you are ready to record, no hanging about charging batteries for hours. You can easily unpack it, record and upload a mini test vid in 15 minutes! I would recommend this to anyone and to be honest I am going to buy my oldest Daughter one as she fell in love with it too. I think they are missing a trick as this should be marketed hard - it could be so popular! A fantastic gift idea, especially for new Mums - this is going everywhere with me in my baby bag! (I also bought the pink leather carry case - just gorgeous!)
Great fun, 11 Jul 2008
Bought this a couple of days ago. Great fun, easy to use, compact. Easy to download and view videos, all in all a great little gadget.

Annoyed.
No remote control, 16 Oct 2008
Page 19 of the Operating Guide (Step 1: Checking supplied items) states that the Wireless Remote Commander is supplied only with Models DCR-DVD310E/ DVD410E/DVD710E and DVD810E.
Easy to download and view videos, all in all a great little gadget.
flip cam, 10 Jul 2008
Bought this for Daughters 21st, she loves it, great, fun, small handbag size, great picture, easy to download, overall brill.
ITS THE SIZE OF A LARGE MOUSE!, 09 Nov 2008
Bought this with no clue about tecno stuff -I just wanted something cheap and small for a holiday to India. Very nice little video camera -so small you could pop it in your top pocket -similar QVC rubbish around for the same money made by So-knee etc -this is a top make for little money -really simple to operate so good for granny or mum whos used to shoulder mounted 1990s cameras.
One criticism -is has poor low light recording abiltiy. -just use it outside -what do you want for £140 -themal night vision!!.
Buy it -you will like it.
if you are a teacher read this, 06 Nov 2008
very good camera, portable.
sound zooms in with lense (this function works ok).
your classroom will need to be well lit, other than that quality is good. has a good still shot and video function, very portable and very easy to use.
We have some for teachers and some for students to use. perfect for presentations, and taking shots of pupils work.
I would buy this camera again. Make sure you buy with SD card.
Perfect for taking around and capture precious moments, 03 Nov 2008
I bought this a few month ago to video my baby and to send the videos by email to my parents living abroad.
I have never owned a video camcorder before and I have to say, I am impressed.
It is very small (smaller than my digital camera), the quality of the videos are quite good, and it tales SD cards which is very handy.
The uploading of the photos on the laptop is easy. I'm not a great fan of the software with it, but it does the trick... i.e. for me upload and converting to wav, or mpegs to be able to email them over.
The negative is the photo side - no way near as good as a digital camera... the pictures are grainy and not great resolution... but i did not buy for that, so I am happy with it...
depends what you want out of it!
I thought it was great value for money.
Absolutley Fantastic, 21 Oct 2008
I bought this video camera to replace my old Sony mini DV camcorder which I usually only took anywhere special like the grandchildren's parties etc. This one can be with me wherever I go and, more importantly, its quality easily matches the Sony in every way.
The quality of the stills can't match most mobile phones but that isn't what I've got it for.
You can also transfer video to a PC almost instantly without having to capture from tape in real time.
All in all I'm delighted with it.
Disappointed, 07 Aug 2008
The good thing about this camera is its size - it is extremely small and fits easily into a shirt pocket. This is a big plus if you want something that is portable. I was also quite impressed with the sound quality from this camera.
However, overall I was disappointed with the camera - particularly in relation to the picture quality which I thought was very poor. I don't know how this camera compares to other cameras in this price range, but I had expected a crisper clearer image. I also found some of the controls on the camera rather small and fiddly to use.
At the end of the day the most important thing about a camera is that it produces decent quality images, I wasn't satisfied with the quality from this camera. I returned it to Amazon and got a full refund, and am now looking at buying the Panasonic HDC SD9 - it costs a lot more, but gives excellent results. As more and more people buy High Definition Tv's, it seems sensible to buy a camera that will produce video that will look good on HD Tv's in the years to come. I didn't feel the SDR S7 would meet this requirement.

Customer Reviews
