Quality Box, 18 Nov 2008
Great sound for a stereo of it's size. The bass and treble sounds are outstanding, even playing the bog standard mp3 files on my ipod.
My classic ipod fitted into the dock without any problems. You can browse through the menus on your ipod using the RDI remote control which is a nice feature.
The DAB radio auto-tuned no problem. I now get a good reception on 5live for the first time in my life!!

Intempo Digital RDI iPod Speaker Dock With Built In DAB
I purchased one of these from Amazon in February and have been very pleased with it. It does everything well, not stunning, but solid (I didn't expect stunning quality for the money). Woke up this morning, switched it on and nothing, nada, zip etc. Unit was powering on and iPod dock still worked but no FM, no DAB and no display.
Quick check on the web led me to the intempo website, which is very simple and gives some contact details. I sent off an email in the hope that someone would get back to me (anyone that uses email as a contact method for customer services orgs would probably agree with me that they are treated as the least urgent). Anyway, after a brief flurry of activity today they are coming tomorrow to collect the unit for repair AND giving me a replacement at the same time. I'm always one for moaning about service etc but I thought that that was worth writing a review about. Well done Intempo - great service.
Cradles for which iPods??, 06 Nov 2008
No iPod models are listed, anywhere on the carton or in the instructions manual.
However, in the package there are 'cradles' to hold various iPods.
These have printed on them iPod Nano, iPhone, iPod Touch, and Nano 3rd Generation. There are also two cradles which have no annotations.
Great Buy And Charges Nano 4th Gen , 02 Nov 2008
Treated myself to one of these for Christmas and of course when it comes you have to test it make sure all is fine, the best part is that this unit not only plays music from my ipod it also charges my Nano 4th Gen (most older docks wont something to do with the firewire pin being removed from the unit) So this will charge all new Ipods.
The sound is very good lots of Bass and when i scanned for DAB it picked up many stations just by using the aerial connected to the back of the unit. All in all i am delighted with this purchase. Just gutted Amazon droped the price by a tenner 2 days after purchase. LOL
INTEMPO EDI - JUST GOT IT YESTERDAY, 21 Oct 2008
JUST GOT THIS ITEM YESTERDAY AND IT LITERALLY TOOK ME JUST A FEW MINUTES TO SET IT UP. scanned for channels automatically. GREAT... AND THE SOUND IS GOOD. AT LEAST, THERES NO COMPLAINTS FROM ME. HOWEVER, WHEN U INCREASE THE VOLUME REALLY HIGH, YOU CAN HEAR SOME DISTRACTIONS THROUGH THE SPEAKER AT THE BACK. BUT, HEY, I AM NOT GOING TO LISTEN THAT LOUD UNLESS OF COURSE, IF I AM ALMOST DEAF.
NAVIGATING THE SYSTEM USING THE REMOTE CONTROL IS STRAIGHTFORWARD. IT DOES WHATEVER I NEED THE DOCKING SYSTEM TO DO.
I WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS ITEM.... ITS GREAT AND I AM ENJOYING IT.

Very disappointing, 19 Nov 2008
From other reviews this product looked great and would give me DAB radio in the car. The reality was sadly disappointing. Since receiving the radio in July two of them have failed. When they have worked they've generally been fiddly to use and seem to lose the DAB station easily. On a long journey i've found it necessary to change the FM frquency as local station overpower the DAB.
All in all a real shame as I like Pure DAB radios and have been pleased with the domestic models we have purchased.
Unimpressed..., 14 Nov 2008
Must have had this DAB in car radio about a year now so I reckon I am in a good position to provide an objective review so here it is.
As other reviewers have pointed out the aerial is sub-standard, you are forever loosing signal strength (I tried re-tuning as instructed but has no effect)which is really frustrating.
Changing stations on the move is awkward especially if you store more than 4 stations.
The set up is relatively easy but you end up with intrusive wires trailing everywhere.
The arm that holds the radio to the windscreen is also poor quality constantly wobbling until mine actually broke off today!! (where the arm attaches to the sucker) obviously a weak point unless mine was faulty.
Whatever I Won't be repairing it as I had pracically stopped using it due to the combined faults already mentioned.
Not surprisingly my conclusion is this is a poor product, a waste of money unsuitable for purpose, which came as a real shock to me as i have a Pure Evoke DAB radio at home which is a superb piece of kit.
Good product let down by poor internal areial, 12 Nov 2008
I bought the Pure Highway having had a DAB radio in my previous car (a first generation Blaupunkt unit with external aerial). There were almost no places in the South East where I lost the DAB signal.
It was quick and easy to set up although I did not use the FM transmission option as my radio has an aux input.
The Pure unit, with internal aerial, constantly dropped out - sometimes only for a second or two. Very frustrating! You could see the signal strength meter jumping up and down all the time. I had expected better.
Apart from that, the unit was fine - although more pre-sets would have been nice.
Planet Rock in the car at last!, 06 Nov 2008
We bought this six months ago as my husband couldn't face an upcoming long trip without Planet Rock.
In a nutshell, it was quite easy to set up and very clever little gadget.
You tune the gadget into your existing radio, and once you've got it tuned, you give it a preset number so you can find it easily.
Other reviewers mention a reception problem - we've had this on certain roads but have always managed to retune so not a problem. Also, maybe the gadget shares frequency with a couple of local radio stations hence the reception problem sometimes? (just a guess, I'm no expert)
It plugs into the cigarette charger and there's a very bright red bulb that glows - we've stuck something over it as it's too bright at night time!
We only use it for Planet Rock - apparently there are lots of radio stations though :o)
i'nt technolgy fantastic, 20 Oct 2008
Long time digital radio fan - particualarly 6 music - one of the banes of my life was being unable to listen in the car. Enter one of the best birthday presents I have been given. Agree with most of the below - the good and the bad. The wires are a bit messy. And the first time i drove off the signal disappeared almost instantly but since then no problems at all and for even long journeys have not had to retune. Saturday mornings are no longer confined to the house so I can listen to Adam and Joe in its entirety. Big downside is the permanence of the aerial prohibiting moving from car to car but may well invest in second aerial. Definitely recommend.

Great size, amazing sound - generally a great buy!, 05 Oct 2008
I'd be dallying for a while about buying this or the Intempo DAB iPod dock and I am so glad I bought this one. It has great sound for such a relatively small system (I am sure the neighbours agree). I have literally just plugged in my iPod and it plays. The remote is great too - I can control the wheel with it which is great for being lazy! The DAB functionality is great too - I have already saved my favourite channels in the system.
Very easy to use, looks great, sounds amazing - no regrets (only that I didn't buy it sooner!).
Cracking little unit, 28 Aug 2008
I bought this system to replace a similar one by an inferior make (iSymphony) and it's exactly what I wanted. It has great sound, although I'm not using the speakers that came with it, it's connected through my AV system. Unlike the previous system I had there is no audible buzzing noise when the power is turned on which is why I needed a new unit. The CD turntable is silent which is another bonus.
As for the DAB aerial issue (see other reviews) I found the supplied length of wire gave me perfect reception for 5Live, Planet Rock etc by just running it straight up the wall in some trunking.
If you have an iPod and are looking for a unit to dock it into in order to play tracks and charge the player at the same time you will be more than happy with this system - and it's a good price too! I found the remote is easy to use as the controls for using the iPod are exactly the same as on the player, it's just a wheel system with a button in the middle.
Simple, stylish and not expensive. Got to be a winner!
Quality unit but needs External aerial for DAB, 24 Aug 2008
Hi
Firstly i bought this unit because i wanted a docking station for my Ipod that would give quality sound and would play data MP3 CDS. This it does very well and the sound quality is much better than the ghetto blaster it repaces. The thing that clinched the deal was the DAB radio but alas the aerial provided for this is basically a socket and a 1 metre length of wire that you are supposed to trail horizontally from the back of the unit. I am afraid Sony you are having a laugh! this is pathetic, why when you can buy a portable radio that can give decent reception of DAB with an attached antenna can you not produce something better than this. I would expect this kind of accessory from BUSH or CROWN but not from a sony product. My advice is if you are prepared to buy this unit and fit an external antenna then it ticks all the boxes but otherwise go for a much cheaper FM version that can produce all the same formats at a reduced cost. To summarise i am pleased with the unit for what it produces well but in eastbourne in sussex i cannot get one DAB station with this rediculous piece of wire.
Good Looking System, 22 Aug 2008
This is a good micro hi-fi system for some-one who is looking for a decent looking system with good features. I particular wanted a small hi-fi as I didn't have a lot of space, but wanted the features- most radio bands, CD, ipod dock, and small good speakers.
AM frequency was important to get all the different football commentaries as Radio Scotland can have different games on DAB, FM and AM! I actually found AM quite hard to get on any system- but this had it and that swung me as well as how well it would fit in with the other electrical equipment I have.
The reception quality was good in FM, AM and DAB using only provided aerials and I see no need to connect it too my outside aerial.
Sound quality is good though, I would like a deeper sound with more bass and the system doesn't let you fiddle with the sound output types much at all.
One quibble I have is the remote is a bit button crazy and is counter intuitive for some functions at first compared to other remotes, but it works fine when you get to know it!
Good looks, good sound, and great features. Sony does well again.

A Few Tweaks Would Give It 5 Stars...., 18 Nov 2008
I've been playing around with this for an hour now and really enjoying the near limitless choice of stations and superb sound quality - I live in an area with poor DAB reception and have been used to a burbling sound on all DAB stations, this bit of kit gets around that nicely and without an obtrusive aerial. (although some stations are only available in 36kbps and the sound from these is terrible)
I had the intempo hooked up to my wireless in less than 5 minutes, all you need to do is scan for your wireless network name then put in your WEP key and away you go.
I thought the huge array of stations would make navigating them tricky, and it can be if you just rely on the radio browse stations - but if you register your radio with the reciva web site, you simply select your favourite stations on the web site and hey presto, they appear in a favourites folder on the radio! - A tailor made channel list which is very easy to browse. (Takes about 5-10 secs between selecting a station and the station playing)
The listen again feature is fantastic. Some stations (pretty much ALL of the bbc stations) allow you to listen to previous broadcasts. So if you HATE the DJ who is on (eg George Lamb - imbecile) you can listen to a better show (eg Adam and Joe - genius), or just get your weekly fix of gardener's question time at any time.
This missed out on 5 stars as some of the buttons could be improved. The scroll dial acts as the on/off switch when pressed, as opposed to 'select', which seems counter intuitive - i keep on turning the damn thing off when i want to select something! (i'm sure i will get used to it though...)
Also, to get to your favourites folder takes 4 button presses and a bit of scrolling - surely a dedecated favourites button would've made this easier seeing as how using the favourites folder is probably going to be the most user friendly way of changing stations
Would've been nice to be able to rip audio straight to a usb stick via the port, but i guess that could be open to abuse........
All in all really happy with this product despite a couple of fiddly niggles, but at the price amazon is selling this thing for can't really grumble, it's a bargain!
Excellent product for the money, 18 Nov 2008
Simple to set up, thousands of station choices, BBC stations work well (unlike with some other similar products), never fails to find the wireless network, quite nice sound quality (if it was stereo I'd have given it 5 stars), channel changes are quick, never any audio glitches, and controls are simple to use. In summary, the best web radio I have owned and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
So good I bought another one, 15 Nov 2008
I purchased one of these about two months ago and and was so impressed I decided to buy another for the bedroom.
It is well worth registering with Reciva so that all your stations are listed under My Stuff so you don't have to remember the remote preset numbers.
Set up is quite straight forward to connect to your wireless router, however a friend who bought one has had intermittent problems connecting to their wireless network, which can be solved by turning the power off and then on again where the radio will then scan for and detect the network and connect.
I suspect that this is not a problem with the radio but a probem with the router,as has already been mentioned by a previous reviewer.
For under £50 this is an excellent internet radio.
Excellent product, 12 Nov 2008
I bought one of these last week. Setup was not difficult though putting in a long WPA key is tedious. As others have said it is worth getting a Reciva account and defining "my stuff" as this then appears on the radio. The sound quality is mono, but perfectly acceptable, I listen to talk radio, but even music is acceptable. Another nice feature is that "podcasts" are listed on the menus, so it is possible to listen to BBC offerings that have already been broadcast.
Overall I am so impressed I have just ordered another one. A bargain at this price, what more can I say. Brilliant.
Brilliant product!!, 09 Nov 2008
This is my first review for Amazon and the reason I am writing this is because I am really impressed with this product.
The setup (connecting to my home wi-fi) was a breeze... and the sheer number of available internet stations is amazing (as well as overwhelming)! Navigating between stations (based on station location or genre) is fairly easy. The ability to store 99 presets makes things even simpler. Had no issues with wi-fi connectivity so far... nothing that a restart of the device cannot resolve (did that only once in 4 days).
A few of the internet radio stations were not available initially so I just registered with Reciva.com and added these stations to the existing list. And presto! they were available on my device within a day!
The price that Amazon were selling this item made it a steal! Now I don't have to start my PC/laptop to listen to the music I want.
Highly recommended!

Nice product - stunning support, 06 Nov 2008

Great - but not for iphone (charging), 27 Oct 2008
As per most previous reviews, love the sound quality. I know many have asked about iphone - it will play Iphone (3G), you can control the phone with the remote to skip etc, but it will not charge the iphone. It doesn't seem to suffer from the annoying mobile interference noise (that I have yet noticed). Overall, more than worth the money - gives us a version fully iphone 3G compatible and I'll give you 5 stars :-)
iPod Dock, 23 Oct 2008
I bought this unit to sit on my desk at work so I had music while I work. The sound quality if fantastic and it does everything I want and more. The display is clear and easy to understand and I love the fact it is a radio as well as a docking station. My iTouch is always charged so no annoying battery lows anymore.
If you are looking for a good unit I highly recommend this one.
I really like it. But if you want one you should know...., 21 Oct 2008
I really like this product, it does everything I want from it with ease. It looks pretty good, sounds pretty good and is fairly simple to set up (instructions always pretty important). I recommend it to pretty much anyone that wants to be woken up by their own style of music rather than whatever the radio has to offer.
There are 3 things that anyone buying one of these should be aware of before they do so.
Firstly, if you cannot sleep in anything but complete darkness you won't like this product. The panel that displays the time has a backlight with 3 dimmer settings, dim, bright and brightest, but there is no OFF. This is not a problem for me, but it may be for some people.
Secondly (some people might consider this a good thing) the bass on the product is pretty beastly! I was very surprised by the quality of it... however I would say that for a product that is supposed to serve as an alarm it is TOO loud compared to the rest of the sound. The first time I was woken up by it (at 05:50) I couldn't help but think that the bass would carry through to my next door neighbours just the other side of the wall and wake them up. This can be remedied by changing the equaliser on the iPod to "reduced bass", but then it sounds wrong through earphones during the day, so must be constantly changed back and forth. Only a slight inconvenience, but in inconvenience none the less.
Finally the only thing that I really don't like about this product, the fact that (as far as I can tell) there is no way of stopping the iPod from charging when it is placed on the product, which means that every time I want to go to bed (and wake up by iPod in the morning) the iPod has to go on charge, and the constant charging damages the battery of the iPod. The only way to avoid this as far as I am aware is either to not use your iPod at all during the day, or use it so much that it's nearly out of battery and NEEDS the charge at the end of the day.
If none of those things bother you I happily recommend this product. I really like it, and to be honest even if I would have known those things before I bought it I still would have got it. Nevertheless anyone buying this product should be aware of its possible reasons to send back before they actually have to do so.
4/5
Fabulous litle gadget, 20 Oct 2008
I bought this to replace a CD clock radio that was well past it's use by date. It is a fabulous little gadget - looks really good, charges your ipod up and wakes you up in the morning with either rich quality music (very impressed with the sound quality), radio or buzzer.
It's really easy to use and has plenty of radio presets if you forget to take your ipod upstairs at bedtime or just fancy a change! The display is nice and bright but this can be a down-side if you like your room dark as it has a backlight that is still quite bright on it's dimmest setting.
I absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone.
WOW!!!, 03 Oct 2008
Logik 3 iStation alarm clock radio for ipod (black)
Wow what a product, since I bought it, I've never had to press the "Snooze" button, waking up to your own music is great! The remote is small but hey, on other reviews they don't tell you, it comes with MANY ipod docks so almost every ipod will fit comfortably, the remote has a hole to fit onto keyrings etc, music gradully gets louder when alarm goes off, the bass you get is unreal, not what i expected =D, you can use your ipod while it is plugged in (i.e. internet etc), it's a good size and I would recommend it to anyone who wants an ipod dock station, Buy this one, ive found no faults...(except you cant skip through playlists with your remote, it has to be done manually)...

Pure PocketDAB 1500 Personal Rechargeable DAB/FM Digital Radio , 09 Nov 2008
I bought this portable dab radio for use whilst walking and cycling, ie for outside pursuits. So I can only vouch for the performance of this device as my main use was as above. The clarity and reception of dab radio is superb with no crackling or hiss from normal FM radio, how ever this radio does not like concrete ie subways and the like. Indoors can be a problem as there can be a problem with reception as the ear phone is the aerial , this wasn`t a dissapointment as this radio is portable and in my eyes designed for out door use which suits my needs perfectly. In short I can`t understand all the negative reviews in relation to reception etc I live in London so reception is not a problem. I would recommend this device to any one using it for outdoor pursuits but it is equally as good for work or indoors as long as you keep the ear phones taut. Overall I am pleased with my purchase
Great for the communte, 07 Nov 2008
I bought this for my commute from Brighton to London and I find it perfect for the journey. Yes there is the occasional drop-out (in tunnels and also at some stations). Occasionally I'll need to switch it to FM where the DAB signal is weak, but for a vast majority of the journey it is absolutely fine, and the battery lasts ages, it is very light and the aluminum body gives me piece of mind that it won't be broken by being knocked about in my lap-top bag. Highly recommended.
Don't believe the (bad) hype!, 08 Sep 2008
Having done extensive research about DAB radio and wanting a portable one to take to football matches I went for this radio from Pure. All the bad reviews seem to focus on the poor reception. If you check out before you buy, the areas you live or work etc. you can then make a judgement whether it's worth buying. I did and all areas I use the radio in were listed as "should have reasonable reception" whilst this didn't fill me with confidence I can say that the reception is great in these areas. Sometime you lose signal a bit when travelling but this is when you are going in and out of signal areas. I have never yet had no signal at all.
I would recommend this radio especially for the battery life, a common DAB problem is that it drinks the batteries and therefore it is great to have a rechargeable pack with this radio, it charges in a couple of hours tops and last for 5-6 hours. Expensive at £70 odd but well worth the extra money for the rechargeable pack and the size (it will fit in most pockets no problem).
On /off no work, 01 Sep 2008
Initially thought this radio was the biz. Good reception and good recharging. Six months in and the on/off stopped working. It just gave up the ghost. The radio lies redundant in a drawer and I am hacked off as I miss it, particularly when I walk home from work.
Pure Quality, 15 Aug 2008
Like others, this is not my first DAB experience. I have had a portable in the house for 4 years, and have recently bought a superb one for the car.
This was bought to improve my home reception and portability.
At almost a quarter the size of my Goodmans DAB, this little unit is amazing.
First Autotune gives me 45 DAB stations. Small arial isn't too sensitve either. Sit this radio anywhere and it works. Have it upstairs and it also reaches even further.
10 presets on DAB and similar on FM. Tuning in each mode is very simple just from two menu buttons.
Sound isn't fantastic, this is a single low wattage speaker, but listen 40 hours on a single charge is superb. I use DAB mainly to listen to current afffairs and talk channels anyway, so more than adequate for the job.
USB port makes it constantly upgradable.
I'm delighted and can't believe how little I paid for it.
Well done Pure

Quality Box, 18 Nov 2008
Great sound for a stereo of it's size. The bass and treble sounds are outstanding, even playing the bog standard mp3 files on my ipod.
My classic ipod fitted into the dock without any problems. You can browse through the menus on your ipod using the RDI remote control which is a nice feature.
The DAB radio auto-tuned no problem. I now get a good reception on 5live for the first time in my life!!
Nice product - stunning support, 06 Nov 2008
