Fabulous quality, brilliant value and very smart, 02 Nov 2008
I bought the Acer P193W this week and I have been absolutely delighted with it. The Amazon reviewers did help me make my choice - I have never bought a LCD screen before - and those that gave rave reviews weren't wrong. I would have liked a bit more information on how to set up my computer with the correct resolution, perhaps Acer could give more info on their site as for me it was quite complicated. But well done Acer on a great product.

To be honest the thing that swayed me to buying this monitor was the amount of possitive of reviews compared to others on the market that were alot more expensive.
For just under £100 well you cant get much better than this, i am sooooo happy with my monitor, the quality, the graphics the size, it came with all the leads needed.
This is my 1st lcd monitor as i have had the old cft monitors and i was worried about going from a 22" cft down to 19" and well i cannot notice any difference the size is about the same size, to be honest this is more than big enough for a computer screen and watching films, any bigger and i think it would be to big especially while sat at a computer desk.
I would recommend this screen to everyone - i bought it as i was tight on cash, and well i would think this would compete with the more expensive monitors aswell. Definatly doesnt look like a cheap monitor - it looks class. With a beautiful black casing.
Go for it, trust the reviews - this comes up the best value for money and definatly is excellent quality!
Rating 110% One of the best buys i have made in a long time.

I ordered this after the monitor I got with my PC stopped working. I really wasn't expecting anything good, not for under £105, but that was all I could afford... how wrong I was! This is an amazing monitor, it may not have speakers, but so what! I already had speakers. This is the best buy that I have made for a long time.
Perfect for what I need, 12 Jul 2008
Yep, this really is as great of a monitor as all the reviews here say it is. After setting my resolution to 1440x900 it was easy to setup. Just make sure to update your monitor driver in the device manager in windows. I failed to do this and was somewhat dissapointed at first. The last TFT monitor I bought around a year ago for about the same price was so rubbish that I sent it back straight away. This one on the other hand is brilliant. I think they must have come on a long way since then.

Found this screen at a clearance sale at another retailer, bought it and don't think I could have done any better , even if I were to have doubled the price!
Only down side is lack of DVI but this is no problem.

This is an excellent product! Images are sharp and well-defined, a boon to someone whose eyesight is not as sharp as it used to be. Thankfully when the screen is perpendicular it is also fairly well-raised from the desk which is just as well because there is no height adjustment - the tilting option makes for even more comfortable watching.
Stunning Monitor, 28 Aug 2008
I first purchased my HW191D in Jan. 07.
I now have 2. These are absolutely FANTASTIC monitors. I had a slight bluetinge problem on one, but HannsG warranty is superb, doorstep swap.
The value for money is brilliant. The picture is superb, and the brightness and viewing angles are great.
The monitor also has DVI, Ideal for me, so I can run two off one graphics card.
Even on VGA, the picture is great.
To top it all off, the display is fully VESA wall-mountable.
Classic!
More than adequate, 17 Jun 2008
Got the monitor because I was replacing a laptop. As I am not a gamer, graphic artist, nor database freak I was looking for something cheap which looked good. Monitor arrived in good time. However, they had managed to pack two vga leads and software rather than a vga and a power lead. Ironically, I did not need the vga lead as I had bought a dvi lead. Because I work in IT I had a spare power lead but you may not. Dvi lead does allow you to rotate the screen but, as you cannot rotate the monitor it impossible to control the mouse until you tilt your head to 90 degrees! Didn't know it had speakers, tried them, but went back to dedicated speakers immediately.
It comes with a perspex sheet taped over the monitor for protection. The bonus is it makes a great crazy mirror - I have not taken it off yet .
Cheap, and okay, 13 Mar 2008
Coming from an old 17 inch 1600x1200 capable CRT, which was definitely darker than I wanted in the dark parts of games by the time it failed, this is a bit of a change.
I mostly used my CRT in 1280x960 mode, this is natively 1440x900 and I'm really missing the few lines from the bottom of the screen.
This is sometimes sort of shimery/silvery (eg when scrolling fast), maybe all LCD screens are this way, I don't know.
I tried it first on it's own VGA cable, it chopped off the edges of the boot-up screen diplayed by the BIOS before windows started, some of the lower resolution modes were fairly uncomfortable to look at on VGA, when the DVI cable arrived the monitor improved considerably in these respects, the BIOS display isn't cropped at all. I'd definitely recommend getting a DVI cable.
Excellent value, 19 Aug 2007
Needed an economical solution to replace an old screen without spending loads. Arrived quickly and was easy to set up. Picture is great and seems fine. I have seen other reviews on this from very discerning people. Value for money it does its job. Only very minor issue is the inbuild speakers are only just ok. Fine for standard computer use but music playback streches the boundaries a little. But my daughter is delighted with it.
Good price, good equipment.

V-sync problem?, 19 Nov 2008
Generally this monitor is excellent, moving up from a 14"laptop screen to this has been amazing for design work and general activity. The design is also pleasing - clear plastic extends slightly from the dark edge which gives a nice finish [i had worried from the photos this was metal].
However, I do have a problem when playing dvd's. when the camera pans there is a jarring of vertical lines... I am told this is V-Sync. So far I can find no solution to this - but I expect it is a problem with my computer/video card and not the screen itself...
Fantastic monitor for mac, 18 Nov 2008
I have just bought this monitor after looking around for one for my macbook- I was fed up with the small screen. Setting it up took no time at all and as long as you have a mini DVI to DVI adapter it should work perfectly. Picture quality is first class and watching films on it is excellent. Whilst it doesn't have speakers, if you plug your laptop into external speakers it is just like watching television. I would recommend to all mac-users. Fantastic quality and price!
A Very Nice Monitor, 07 Nov 2008
I ordered my one on a Sunday and it arrived the next Wednesday via Parcelforce from France and Pixmania.
Box had some exterior transit damage so I checked the monitor was okay before signing for it.
It is the Red Rose finish rather than plain black but that is okay with me.
It comes with a mains lead, normal 3 prongs at monitor end but French at the other. A 13amp converter plug is provided but I just used the power lead from my old monitor.
Also provided is a DVI and a VGA monitor cables.
The manual is on a CD along with driver file for windows (including Vista).
Monitor On/Off button is a touch button on the front with other controls on right side.
Base has no option to raise or lower the height of the monitor.
By default the monitor scans all its inputs for a signal. If you want it to powersave quickly this can be disabled via the monitors on screen menu.
I am only using the DVI with Windows Vista Ultimate and once you have set this to match the 1920x1200 pixels it works really well.
I did have to reduce the brightness from 100% to 75% which is good for my eyes and I guess the life of the monitor.
Would I buy another one?
Yes, but I would much prefer if it shipped direct from Amazon.
Photo's, 08 Oct 2008
Today 08-10-08 I received my Samsung T240 and I can tell you it really did my head in wondering if I had made the right choise, I bought an LG 22" monitor about 9 months ago and I was so dissappointed with the picture quality I returned it straight away so it's taken all these months to pluck up the courage and purchase another one.
I wanted a new Monitor for the main purpose of photography as I use a Nikon D80 DSLR Camera and this is my main hobby, I searched the internet high and low for reviews from other photographers but no such luck as nearly everyone was just interested in gaming so I took the gamble and purchased the Samsung in the hope it would serve my needs.
My opinion on it so far is very very good and for £239 I feel I got a good deal, all my photo's look sharp, colour is very good and no problem with skin tones etc, so for all the photographers out there you won't go far wrong in buying one of these.
The only negative thing I can find is where the onscreen Menu controls are which as a previous reviewer stated are hidden out of sight on the r/hand side of the monitor and can be a pain remembering which one to press.
Anyway I hope this review is a help to other photographers who are looking for a new monitor because it can be one hell of a worry deciding on what one to purchase when it comes to photography.

Fabulous Monitor, 25 Sep 2008
Like the previous reviewer, I too did quite a bit of research on available 22" and 24" LCD monitors. I kept on returning to this, both in terms of value and previous experience of Samsung LCD TVs. At the moment there aren't a great number of reviews on this, Samsung's latest range - however, since purchase I did find a good number on 'Egg' and the majority where very favourable 4 and 5 stars (or eggs!). That took away the worries, as I had already ordered from Amazon.
Ordered on a Thursday - received following Monday as estimated. So no complaints there. Well packaged and on unpacking was amazed at how light (in weight) this monitor is, which is replacing a Dell 19" widescreen. It seemed about the same weight to me - if not lighter.
Set up was pretty easy and when all in place looks absolutely fabulous, from an aesthetic point of view with it's glossy black surround and ruby red clear edging - got to be the classiest style at the moment. Samsung really do know how to come up with good design IMO. The stand has tilt and swivel, but on my desk when I swivel the screen the whole circular base tends to swivel, as the actual point of swivel seems a bit stiff and I've so far been slightly nervous to apply to much force. But no problem for me. The screen does wobble a little on its base but only when adjusting. My desk is good and solid so the monitor does remain firm and steady, but if your base was subject to constant movement it might be a problem.
On to connecting to the computer - couldn't have been easier on my Vista 32bit Dell computer. Didn't install any drivers, or software, off supplied disc, didn't need to. Recognised straight away and all controls on the side are easy to reach and get used to. Enormous range of controls without using onscreen software which from others experience have stayed clear of until Samsung updates MagicTune.
Although some reviews have stated that the brightness needs toning down as Samsung factory settings usually appear harsh, my initial impression was one of jaw dropping awe. Even though I believe this is a TN monitor the natural bright colours and utter clarity of the contrast from true blacks to pure whites is astonishing. This without a doubt was so much better than my Dell monitor and that screen was very good. Zero stuck pixels, perfect.
I had worried about it's use in games with it's response time of 5ms (not 2ms as sometimes advertised) but having played a few sessions of COD4 and UT3 at the native resolution of 1920 x 1200, I can safely say in the venacular that I was blown away by the experience. I easily suffer from motion sickness, if I become aware of any blurring, but after 2 hours of non-stop play - and bearing in mind even with the best of monitors there is usually a period of adjustment - I was extremely impressed.
24" does make a huge difference in multi-player first person shooters - if you have the graphic's card to handle it (mine is an nVidia 8800GTX on a Core 2 Duo 6600 - so not Uber). was worried that my system wouldn't be able to handle it at the highest resolution without lagging but both UT3 and COD4 where as smooth, clear, and colourful as you would wish. On this monitor I can definately see smaller details in the distance and more subtle movements when targeting. A real advantage for old timers like me.
I also use the computer for DTP and the amount of screen 'real-estate' is just something to be seen. Going back to my 19" was so restricting. Have got work up on the screen as I write this review and all those white areas of Windows would normally be very harsh on the eye but I'm finding it so comfortable after hours of work. yet the whites as mentioned are true white and the blacks couldn't be blacker.
Switching between preset settings for such things as Game, Internet, Film, Sport(?), Dynamic, Custom, Text, is easy, instantaneous and intuitive. I tend to leave it on Dynamic at the moment for general work and internet, and switch to Game for gaming. Takes a single button press for the menu and another to select the setting and switchover is instant.
I could go on at the the risk of sounding like a Samsung sales rep. My only negative comment would be that the power button which is touch sensitive for me is not really very responsive. It works fine if I use my thumb but for some reason takes a couple of tries with my forefinger!? Also without the feel of a traditional button which gives some feedback when depressed have caught myself switching the monitor on and off without realising it. For me this is just a question of getting used to the slick newness of 21st Century tech. Nothing to worry about. Not worried about lack of speakers. I think it would detract from the overall design and I've never experienced good sound from a monitor that a small 2.1 speaker system couldn't trash. Height adjustment hasn't bothered me but seems a shame that for true perfection Samsung weren't able to include this. I've never needed to adjust the height on any previous monitor CRT or LCD before, but for a 24", for some, it would probably be a necessity if it was necessary to swivel the monitor to portrait position.
Without a doubt I am truly impressed with this screen. Coupled with all the range of connections on the back, and the price, I can't see anything to beat it.
Hope this helps someone else whose trying to get some info - I found that part of the experience the most frustrating, so glad so far it hasn't ended in tears.

Excellent monitor Acer 19" widescreen TFT, 12 Aug 2008
This is the 2nd one I have bought both from Amazon I think and am very pleased with both. Have got one of each colour and they both look really superb. Very easy set up it does it all for you one is using Vista the other XP and had no problems with them at all. A set up disk was supplied but not needed. All in all a good value for money item. Well recomended.
EXCELLENT WIDESCREEN MONITOR, 04 May 2008
....i purchased this widescreen monitor, partly because of the reviews i read already on this review page, and partly because i shop with Amazon quite regular and am very happy with their total service!!!......anyway as for this monitor;..... it is excellent value for money,as there are other makes/models available on other websites but are much dearer and only offer the same technical specifications!!.The picture quality is second to none(bear in mind that this model screen is a 'Matt'finish screen, which is ideal for me as NO light shadows or reflects onto it at all,and i use it in a very light open room!!..It's very easy to set up as a 'plug and play' monitor should be!(certainly with Windows XP,as it finds the drivers for it automatically!)Also the change to 'Widescreen' for me is a 'big +',you have much more room and don't feel clostrophobic on websites, and for doing design work !!....Just finally,...if you purchase this monitor, make sure you change the 'monitor settings'to the size required for widescreen, in your pc's 'Control panel'..**this is a must or the picture you get will look 'stretched'!!!...it is really easy to change and then that's you 'up and running'!!...Good luck, and hope you enjoy this monitor as much as i do!!....cheers,Ian.
Excellent monitor for the price, 02 May 2008
The picture quality is very good, works well with my dell computer. Excellent monitor for the price. I would recommend this to anyone that's looking for a cheap but good monitor.
Great budget monitor, 28 Mar 2008
Great service from Amazon. Arrived within two days of ordering. Good response time and colour saturation. Looks amazing hooked up to my xbox 360.
Very annoying buzz, 28 Mar 2008
Like the previous reviewer, the two stars are for Amazons excellent service. Delivered very quickly and collected without a hitch. The monitor very clear, the contrast needs a little altering to stop it appearing over exposed. However the buzz it emits drove us crazy! Despite all the good points this buzz meant it had to go back.

Excellent quality for money - Bargin! , 31 Oct 2008
I ordered this product on wednesday and had it with free super saver delivery - well it arrived today (friday same week) amazon you are amazing.
Acer P193W in piano black, 02 Oct 2008
I think they must have come on a long way since then.
bargain, 20 May 2008
Found this screen at a clearance sale at another retailer, bought it and don't think I could have done any better , even if I were to have doubled the price!
Only down side is lack of DVI but this is no problem.
Fantastic value - , 22 Oct 2008

Couldn't be happier with this monitor, 17 Oct 2008
I have just taken delivery of this Acer X222W and could not be happier with it for the price - looks really good sat on my desk and not one pixel out of place in the screen. I read the other rewiews and this was highly regarded and hasn't dissapointed.
Hope this helps
Excellent Monitor, 02 Oct 2008
I bought this monitor to use as a secondary screen for my macbook and to hook up to my ps3 and I couldn't be happier with it. I read all the reviews and decided this would be the one for me. The size is perfect and and the brightness is perfect. Very simple set up also, although I did have to purchase another cable to connect it to my macbook. 5 stars!
Excellent monitor, 27 Sep 2008
Bought this monitor after much searching on the net and reading reviews.
Arrived the following day and believe me is took longer to get the monitor out of the box, than setting it up.
What a doddle to set up. It took 5 minutes and i'm not a computer wizard.
I bought this 22" tft monitor for doing every day computer tasks and for my digital photography hobby. The choice was down to the contrast and resolution. This monitor is fab and the pics on the monitor are razor sharp, which helps when using photoshop cs2.
I'm delighted I bought a wide screen monitor, and a very good investment for the future.
I cannot fault this monitor apart from the internal speakers are quite poor. You would need to buy seperate speakers if you want to listen to quality sound from music or movies.
5 stars to acer.
Would recommend this product to everyone out there!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Value but......, 26 Sep 2008
I purchased this product as a replacement for a 17" Fujitsu monitor for my desk at work. It is stylish and certainly has a big, wide screen.
Despite spending some time tring to get the balance right, I have not been able to get this screen to produce pin-sharp images and there is some pixel bleed. I have no doubt that it fine for people who want to use it for gaming and in that regard it is probably worth a 5 star rating. Sadly for office work, particularly using MS Word, the screen could be better: I would temper that statement with the fact that using Excel has been transformed on my desk, but the same issues regardin glong term use remain.
OK, why only 3 stars, it most certainly is cheap, for most users it would be an excellent purchase, certainly for use in the home. Sadly for an office environment it is not that good, but really as I sit at a screen for over 8 hours a day, perhaps I should have paid more anyway.
If you want a gaming screen or something for occasional use this product is is great and I would buy one for use in the home. For serious use for long periods at the screen, I suggest that you might benefit from paying a little more.

I ALSO bought this monitor (In part) to use with my american PS3 (I live in the uk and was attempting to circumnavigate the NTSC issue) as well as my brand new videocard (8800GTOC with thermointelligence) Let me tell you, this baby runs like a dream. The picture is crystal clear and makes for an incredible viewing experience. For added brownie points, the speakers really aren't that bad either (though, I would opt for a cheap Logitech sound system such as the x-210).
Definitely worth the purchase. The body is pretty damn robust too. I had to travel with it half way across the country in a roller suitcase whilst moving into university and it despite thinking it was damaged on a number of occasions due to significant bumps, it didn't take a single scratch. The somewhat flimsy seeming stand is significantly more durable then it looks.

Customer Reviews
Fabulous quality, brilliant value and very smart, 02 Nov 2008
I bought the Acer P193W this week and I have been absolutely delighted with it. The Amazon reviewers did help me make my choice - I have never bought a LCD screen before - and those that gave rave reviews weren't wrong. I would have liked a bit more information on how to set up my computer with the correct resolution, perhaps Acer could give more info on their site as for me it was quite complicated. But well done Acer on a great product.
Excellent quality for money - Bargin! , 31 Oct 2008
I ordered this product on wednesday and had it with free super saver delivery - well it arrived today (friday same week) amazon you are amazing.
Acer P193W in piano black, 02 Oct 2008
I think they must have come on a long way since then.
bargain, 20 May 2008
Found this screen at a clearance sale at another retailer, bought it and don't think I could have done any better , even if I were to have doubled the price!
Only down side is lack of DVI but this is no problem.
Fantastic value - , 22 Oct 2008

Excellent, 16 Nov 2008
I've been using this monitor for a couple of weeks now and can say that I am really pleased. No dead pixels, hdmi, good quality images, and no ghosting. To stop you from going blind, you will need to lower the brightness and contrast settings. I have my brightness at 70% and contrast at 50%. This is excellent value for money, and you'd be silly to spend the same amount on a 24 inch monitor instead.
Fantastic, 15 Nov 2008
Pros: amazing image quality for the price and the controls are pretty comprehensive. The display is very adjustable in terms of image quality and the orientation of the actual panel itself. Gaming is simply incredible; no ghosting at all and the contrast is pretty good.
Cons: ports are very fiddly to get to at the back of monitor, and my box was missing two important cables - DVI to HDMI being one. Also the monitor's first dead pixel has presented itself after only three days, which is disappointing. It could be due to VGA (I've had problems like this before) so I'll wait and see. It's still a ridiculously cheap monitor for the price and so far I'm immensely pleased with it.
I give it four stars because of the missing cables - without my own DVI-VGA adapter I wouldn't have been able to connect this to my PC, and even so I'd much rather be using the HDMI input because I don't trust VGA.
STUNNING, 13 Nov 2008
I just got mine yesterday, 12th Nov, and set it up right away.
I find this monitor absoutely mind boggling....the best buy I have ever made, relating to computers.
You will have no regrets if you buy this.
pretty awesome screen ive owned :D, 15 Oct 2008
got this couple weeks ago: wise choice :D
pretty amazed by the brightness of the screen. I mainly used it for my ps3 on hdmi and im so awe with the colour, sharpness and brightness! for 330 quids u might not even get a tv on market near this standard!
the only downside's very few sockets and poor audio output but i recommend u get a 5.1 that mixed well in my case (sony DZ260), and ive got hdmi set top box + dvd box(hdmi) set for this monitor. have to get hdmi switcher for this set afterall :|~ but i doubt u can get 1080p 28" tv for less than 500 quids (inclusive of switcher and set top box for tv set) shame for the down side but if u're going for visual, this's pretty matching to fullhd tv standard!
