Poor quality, 06 Oct 2008
I have used Verbatim on numerous occasions in the past and always been very happy with the item. This particular spindle , however, is of extremely poor quality. Keep coming up with error message "disc is dirty".Other blank dvd's I have still work fine with my Sony HDD recorder, so definitely the fault of the discs. Packaging is also different to picture displayed.
I have just noticed another poor review. Recommend purchase of alternative brand until quality control issues resolved on this item.
Top quality blank media, 28 Aug 2008
These Verbatim blank discs are the best.. never have had to throw any out 100% burn success rate.
Competitive price and no epic fails., 24 Aug 2008
I had been putting off making backups of my music and movie collections so I had to buy in bulk. Having so far burnt off around half the batch using 4x speed (to ensure a good copy without buffer underrun problems) and a backup of an XBOX game at 16x speed to check the transfer, I have had no problems - everything has worked first time fresh out of the drive, no wasted DVD coasters.
Verbatim is an appropriate name - unlike some budget brands you get perfect copies each time, assuming that your DVD burner is up to scratch of course. My cheap generic unit has worked well so I think these would work well in almost any half-decent writer. And kudos to Amazon for it's usual lightning-fast delivery which was a whole week ahead of schedule!
Perfection has arrived!, 08 Apr 2008
These Verbatim DVDs are the only brand I will buy, they record on my Sony RDR-HXD910 (Also highly recommended) on time and every time, why look elsewhere when perfection has arrived?
Great DVDs, 04 Apr 2008
These Verbatim DVDs seem to be Taiyo Yuden discs which means they are amongst the best you can buy. Need I say more apart from buy a Pioneer burner?

IGNORE THE STARS I GAVE. DO NOT ORDER THESE FROM AMAZON, 03 Nov 2008
Note, if you decide to stick with amazon and buy these discs from them, they will be the 2.4x discs but you will find that they are manufactured in India, NOT Singapore. Also, the discs sold by from BC UK are 8x discs, not 2.4x as advertised. I just can't seem to get it right with these orders lol.
EDIT: I have now burnt 4 of these disks, the first 3 gave a disk read error. The last, actually stopped writing. I actually tested the image on another disc, and it worked on that.
DO NOT ORDER FROM AMAZON. THEY SUPPLY WITH DISCS MADE IN INDIA AND THOSE ONES ARE RUBBISH.
Beware...., 24 May 2008
These are not actually the 2.4x DVDs. If you order BC UK will send you 8x DVDs. Which is fine if they work in your DVD drive and a pain in the neck if they don't. Now I'm trying to wrangle a replacement from the company.
Far better than competing brands, 12 May 2008
Previously bought Philips D/L discs. None burned successfully. Switched to these Verbatim discs. No failures yet. Anyone needing D/L discs should look no further.
Best discs ever!, 09 Mar 2008
These are awesome DL discs. I used to buy cheaper discs and had a lot of coasters and much headache. When I finally decided to pay up and buy these discs, I forgot about coasters all together. These discs are great and work perfectly well with various DVD burnes. I do not even consider buying any other DL discs any more. I just fell in love with these discs and buy them all the time. They are worth every penny. Buy them with confidence. You won't regret it.
The Only DVD+R DL Worth Buying, 19 Dec 2006
Most people that buy these will know that Verbatim are the only decent manufacturer of DL discs at the mo. Anyone with a modded 360 will need these babies. They work a dream!!!

excellent value and quality, 07 Oct 2008
I recently bought a spindle of 50 of these DVDs and have used about half of them and not one has failed so far. Unless all the dodgy ones are clumped together at the bottom of the spindle they would seem to be as good as it gets at a very good price. I have used Verbatim CDs and DVDs for quite some time and have not had any problems with them. Maybe the reviewer with the high failure rate should look at his hardware as another reviewer suggested.
not the DVD's fault, 27 Mar 2008
RE. Mrs. J. A. Collinson "mariocdl" (York, England)
I think your problem could be your DVD-RW drive. Try updating the firmware for it! If that doesn't work, buy a new drive (they are less than £20) - Samsung 200 series are probably the best to get.
I was getting lots of failed DVD burns (coasters), then i found out that my DVD-RW firmware was about 2 years and 8 versions out of date! I installed the new firmware, and it has not failed since.
These Verbatim printable DVDs are top quality, as are the DataWrite printables i use.
Very poor success rate., 06 Mar 2008
Out of the 50 disks, 15 have failed. It doesnt really help when your making sponsorship DVDs for when you have no money! To be honest, I dont care anymore if they're good for printing...
A 70% success rate is crap if you ask me, not reccomended.
WOW !, 27 Oct 2007
Considering I paid £12.99 for a 25 pack of the same discs from WHSmith, this 50 pack is remarkable value. I've tried several printable discs from other manufactures in the past, but I feel that these Verbatim discs are by far the best. Unlike some they actually burn at 16x and are easily printable giving you a smooth crisp disc every time. Highly recommended.
Be aware this is photo (i.e. inkjet ) printable only, 07 Oct 2006
The DVDs are good (Verbatim's always are - I don't buy anything else).
The main reason for this feedback is to let new buyers of printable DVDs know that there are two types: photo (i.e. inkjet) printable and thermal printable. You cannot print photo printable with a thermal printer or vice versa. I'm dumb and didn't know this ...
These DVDs are just described as printable. FYI - they are photo printable - you can't print them with a thermal printer.

on saterday i paid 6-99 for 5 discs at a local retailer, ibought 10 of u for just over 7-00,u cannot tell the differance, very good value for the money.
fantastic quality and value for money, 09 May 2005
At less than 80p per disc, I only bought one pack because I was wary of the quality. I needn't have worried... picture and sound quality are brilliant. I have been copying videos I taped off the tv... my recorder (DAEWOO DF8150 DVD Recorder +RW and VCR Combi, with MP3.JPEG & Picture CD compatible) which I bought at the same time is superb... it has enhanced the quality of these recordings significantly! I will be purchasing more without hesitation!
No problems, 08 Apr 2005
I've used these discs for burning home movies and other formats of video converted to DVD. No problems/dropouts in any case (I use a Toshiba DVD writer in my PC). Bottom line, they work, unlike cheap garbage like "Mr DVD".
Average, 02 Mar 2005
This product would not backup a partion of my hard drive due to it having some "data" on it, i erased the disk numerous times yet it still did not work. Only 6 of my disks worked and 4 were coasters.
Perfect, 31 Dec 2004
Excellent. Highest quality and very subtle, attractive branding on disc.

Imagine my surprise when I was given a box of them by a loved one on Valentine's Day to open it and find not 1, not 65, not 82.5 but ONE HUNDRED of these invaluable storage units, essential for safeguarding my most treasured optical media from everyday wear and tear, as well as curious but slow-witted children.

Quick Reviews!, 04 Jun 2008
If you want a cheap, reliable set of DVD-Rs, and don't mind the fact that they don't have individual cases, then look no further. With this set you get 25 disks for, at the moment, 5 quid. Unlike disks from other manufacturers, these do not become corrupted halfway through the burning process, or fail on 97%. They are compatible with any burner, and play without problems. Each disk is almost 5Gb, meaning about 6 hours of film, or thousands of your best pictures can be stored. The recording process is quick, and the final product is exactly as you want it to be. The cakebox is easy to store, although i prefer individual cases which do take up more space in your house. Of course, you can buy sets with cases, but for those of you who don't mind, this is perfect
Top notch, 09 Mar 2007
These discs have been really good to me. Out of almost 100, not a single one has failed to burn on my Lite-On DVD recorder . The only minor gripe is that you cant handwrite your titles on the discs but hey you can stick them in a plastic wallet or DVD case instead. No problem. Its better than buying cheaper lesser known blank DVDs half of which turn out to be coasters.

Strand CD Plastic Wallets are an unrivalled revolution in CD storage.
Although it's not 100% certain Strand were the first people to come up with the idea, the transparency of these things just adds a whole new dimension to the CD experience, so they certainly deserve praise for at least recognising the transparency of CD wallets as being a tremendously good idea. I feel I'm able to appreciate the CD visually as much inside the wallet as outside, which is just a splendid added bonus really.
Another innovative part of these wallets' design is that they will hold ANY kind of CD. That's right; I have tried countless albums, from The Axel Boys Quartet to Zpandau Ballet and not one could cause the wallets to malfunction.
Finally, something which still amazes me to this day (and I have been a loyal user of Strand's wallets for 10 years now) is the sheer durability of the wallets. These wallets WILL NOT break under the brute force of any blunt object, such as a hammer, baseball bat or prosthetic limb. My eldest aunt-in-law and my best friend witnessed this test as carried out on a kitchen worktop and they can vouch for my findings should you not believe me!
And in fact, why should you believe me? For all you know I've never used these things in my life (though I have, and I'm all too glad I discovered them), and at their astonishingly low price it would be criminal not to put your current CD storage system aside to give these a trial. Give yourselves a pat on the back once again, Strand!
the best you can get, 12 Jun 2006
great product for maximising space taken up by cds and ditching those foul jewel cases into the bargain
serious cd collectors will be sad to know there doesn't seem to be anywhere you can buy them cheaply by the 1000
Quick Reviews!, 04 Jun 2008
Great Value, 23 Sep 2008
I got these after reading what Ferris wrote as i have the same writer (from Amazon) and not had a single one that has failed.
Great, 30 Aug 2008
A disk has never failed out of 50. To have 25 disk fail then there is something wrong with your dvdplayer/video burner.
If you want to make a saving Saainsburys are selling these for £9.
very, very disappointed, 05 Aug 2008
I'm very surprised and displeased with the poor quality of these discs. Well over half my 50 stack are coasters and fail when trying to write.
I thought Verbatim were meant to be one of the better makes! I shalln't be buying them again. I'll stick with Sony Dvd+r.
Simply good value, 29 May 2008
Not a lot to say, i've got a SONY burner DRU-190A (only £14.99 on Amazon), i'm well over half way through my spindle with no beer mats yet. Another spindle ordered and on the way.
Faultless!, 18 Apr 2008
I'm half way through my spindle with a 100% success rate, using a Pioneer DVR-115DBK. Not much more to say apart from great price!

Customer Reviews
Top discs!, 27 Oct 2008
I have been through 2 packs of these discs (200) and not had 1 fail on me and i've used them for music, movies and data.
My printer loves them too, no smudging like i've found with some printables. Great price too!
Disc will not take Print, 26 Oct 2008
I am using a Casio dics title printer and find these disc do not take print, I will not buy any more of this brand.
NO MACBOOK PROBLEMS, 07 Aug 2008
Just to follow-up on another reviewer - I have used these discs on a Macbook Pro and have had no problems at all. The only improvement from TDK may would be full face print area.
have not had a bad one, 20 Jul 2008
Good discs for music. Aint tried them for anything else yet. Good value. Work every time.
Beware the dummies of this world...., 16 Jul 2008
...I have used hundreds of this product for all sorts of data, music and images...100% perfect, but a bit hard for dummies to understand, even if they can manage to open the packaging...
FYI - they are photo printable - you can't print them with a thermal printer.
spot on, 18 Nov 2008
on saterday i paid 6-99 for 5 discs at a local retailer, ibought 10 of u for just over 7-00,u cannot tell the differance, very good value for the money.
fantastic quality and value for money, 09 May 2005
At less than 80p per disc, I only bought one pack because I was wary of the quality.
Reasonable value but use 2 for each dvd/cd, 04 Oct 2008
These are cheap and at first sight they looked a bit flimsy. But decided to put dvd into one pocket, tuck in and then put it into a second pocket. This makes it strong enough to serve the purpose well. At the price they are reasonable value.
Great!, 28 Feb 2008
These plastic wallets are not only useful for keeping CD's in but you can also keep DVD's in them! Great success!
Plus, you can achieve a frosted glass effect on normal windows at home by sellotaping them to the glass on the inside!
Truly a revolution in CD storage/frosted glass imitation.
OK, but only just, 10 Dec 2007
I was disappointed with the quality of these wallets. The last ones I got from Maplins were much thicker and heavier duty but not much more expensive. These will be ok for temporarily protecting CD's (if you want to send a data disk in the post one for example) but I wouldn't use them for long term storage.
A fantastic solution!, 09 Nov 2007
Strand CD Plastic Wallets are an unrivalled revolution in CD storage.
Best disc's around, 04 Oct 2008
If your looking for a dvd recorder, make sure you get one that accepts these disc's, they are by far more superior to dvd+/-rw's and last longer and use all the room on the disc just like your hard drive on your pc, also I have found that the picture quality on ep is better than on other disc's too. You also have the convenience of recording a programme and watching it from the start at the same time, just like you would if it had a hard drive in it.
I would'nt buy any other kind of disc now.
The best recordable DVD format, 26 May 2008
With so many recordable DVD formats around these days it can be difficult not only to find one that works for you but also one that you can have total faith in. DVD-RW and DVD+RW are arguably the most common formats, with DVD-RAM often being overlooked by hardware manufacturers, possibly as it was originally developed for backing up computer data rather than as a storage medium for recorded TV. This is a shame, because RAM has a number of significant advantages over both -RW and +RW that should by now have put it firmly in the lead as the preferred recordable DVD medium.
